"Hmph, what a waste of time," Ray scoffed. He grabbed my hand, ready to turn around and leave. "Then you can do whatever you want, old man. I'm here to announce that I've proposed to Claudia, and we'll hold our wedding soon."
"But you're not allowed to come as long as you're with her. Open your damn eyes and see that bitch on your lap. She is Maya Reed, Claudia's stepmother, and the one who abused her."
"How could you say that to your own grandmother, Ray? Your grandpa always told me that you grew up to be a handsome, capable, and smart man. But what I see right now is a foul-speaking man!"
"Maybe you shouldn't be with that woman. I heard everything about Claudia. Including her previous marriage," Maya scoffed. "Do you really think that she's innocent? She doesn't even have a clear family background."
"Don't say that, Elise," Godfrey sighed. "Claudia is our grandson's beloved. He will never change his mind."
