Chapter 11 – The Book That Shouldn't Exist
[Scene: Kenta's Expanded Room - Saturday Morning]
(The room is bright. Spring sunshine. Four people are cleaning. A rare event.)
Sui: (holding up an old shirt) "Kenta-kun, this has a hole in it!"
Kenta: "Throw it out."
Yui: (finding broken items) "What about these?"
Kenta: "Trash."
Akari: (pulling out a worn box) "This is empty. Just dust."
Sui: "More trash!"
(They gather actual garbage. Broken things. Empty boxes. Old packaging. Nothing sentimental.)
Yui: (looking at the pile) "We have too much. Let's take it out!"
Sui: "Akari-chan, you go with Kenta-kun! We'll stay and organize!"
Akari: (blushing) "Okay."
(Kenta and Akari gather bags. Walk toward the dumpsters behind the building.)

(They throw the bags. Turn to leave. Then—)
Akari: (stopping) "Kenta-kun, look."
(Behind a dumpster. A small box. Tucked away. Hidden. On top: a worn book with a handwritten title.)
Kenta: (picking it up) "Don't read unless you're Kenta Morik."
Akari: (eyes widening) "It's addressed to you. By name."
Kenta: (turning it over) "This handwriting... it's my father's."
Akari: (gasping) "Kenji Morik?!"
Kenta: (voice tight) "He left this here. Hidden. Waiting."
Akari: "Why here? Why now?"
Kenta: (holding it carefully) "I don't know. But I need to read it alone."
Akari: (concerned) "Alone?"
Kenta: "If it's what I think it is... I need to process it by myself first."
Akari: (nodding slowly) "Okay. But promise you'll tell us everything after."
Kenta: "I promise."
(They return to the room. Kenta hides the book in his desk.)
Sui: "What took you so long?!"
Akari: (quickly) "We saw a cat. It was cute."
Yui: (suspicious) "A cat?"
Kenta: (calmly) "A black one. Very fast."
Sui: (shrugging) "Okay then! Back to cleaning!"

[Scene: Kenta's Room - Evening, After the Girls Leave]
(Sui and Yui have gone home. Akari left earlier. Kenta sits alone at his desk. The book in front of him.)
Kenta: (thinking) "Father. What did you leave for me?"
(He opens it. Inside: pages of dense writing. Diagrams. Names. Addresses. And at the top of the first page:)
"If you're reading this, I'm gone. The organization found me. But they didn't find everything.
Their name: Kage no Kai (Society of Shadows). Their headquarters: 1412 Kurokami-cho, Tokyo.
They hunt people like us. Those who can sense others. Those who can read hearts. They want to control us. Weaponize us.
I've hidden this where only you would find it. In the place where we used to throw trash together. You were seven. You said you wanted to be a hero. This is your chance.
Find them. Stop them. Protect the ones you love.
— Your Father, Kenji Morik."
Kenta: (hand shaking) "He knew. He knew they would come for him."
(He flips pages. Lists of names. Dates. Locations. A map. Names of people who helped his father. Names of those who betrayed him.)
Kenta: (reading) "They're still active. Still hunting."
(He reaches a section titled "Those We Saved." A list of families. Including Akari's. His father's handwriting next to her name: "Akari Tachibana. Age 7. Dormant ability, perhaps stronger than we know. Protect her.")
Kenta: (voice breaking) "Father... you were watching over her. For me."
(He keeps reading. His head pounds. His vision blurs.)
Kenta: (thinking) "Too much. It's too much."
(He tries to stand. His legs give way. The book falls from his hands.)
Kenta: (whispering) "Akari... Sui... Yui..."
(He collapses. Unconscious. The room is silent.)

[Scene: Kenta's Room - Later, Door Bursts Open]
(Sui, Yui, and Akari stand at the door. They came back to get something Akari left. They find him on the floor.)
Sui: (screaming) "KENTA-KUN!"
Yui: (rushing to him) "He's not moving!"
Akari: (picking up the book) "It's this. He read it alone. Like he said."
Sui: "We need to call an ambulance!"
Yui: (already dialing) "I'm on it!"
Akari: (holding his hand) "Kenta-kun, please wake up. Please."
(His face is pale. Cold. But breathing shallow.)
Sui: (checking) "He's alive. Barely."
Yui: (on phone) "Ambulance is coming! Hold on!"
(They hold him. Wait. Pray.)

[Scene: Hospital - Waiting Room]
(Hours pass. The girls sit together. Akari hasn't stopped shaking.)
Sui: (holding her) "He'll be okay. He's Kenta. He's always okay."
Akari: (crying) "I should have stayed. I should have been there when he read it."
Yui: (stroking her hair) "He wanted to do it alone. You respected that."
Akari: "But he collapsed. Alone."
Sui: (firmly) "He's not alone now. We're here."
(Doctor emerges.)
Doctor: "Family of Kenta Morik?"
Sui, Yui, Akari: (in unison) "YES!"
Doctor: "He's stable. Severe stress reaction. His body shut down from the emotional and mental overload. But he's conscious now."
Akari: (crying) "Can we see him?"
Doctor: "One at a time. He's weak."
Sui: (grabbing Akari and Yui) "We go together. Or not at all."
Doctor: (pause) "I'll make an exception."

[Scene: Hospital Room]
(Kenta lies in bed. Pale. Tubes in his arm. But his eyes are open. He sees them.)
Kenta: (hoarse) "You're here."
Sui: (rushing to his side) "Of course we're here!"
Yui: (holding his hand) "You scared us!"
Akari: (standing back) (crying) (trembling)
Kenta: (reaching for her) "Come here."
(She does. Falls into him. Holds him tight.)
Akari: "I thought you were going to die."
Kenta: (holding her) "I'm not that easy to kill."
Sui: (hugging from the other side) "What happened? What did that book do to you?"
Kenta: (long pause) "It wasn't the book. It was what it meant."
Yui: "What do you mean?"
Kenta: "My father knew they'd kill him. He wrote that book for me. To prepare me. To warn me."
Akari: "The organization."
Kenta: (nodding) "Kage no Kai. The Society of Shadows. They've been hunting people like us for decades."
Sui: "People like us?"
Kenta: "People with abilities. Mind-readers. Empaths. Those who can sense others."
Yui: (eyes widening) "Like you."
Kenta: "Like me. Like Akari's father. Like Akari herself, maybe."
Akari: (confused) "Me?"
Kenta: "Your father thought you had something. Faint. Dormant. But real. He wrote about you. In the book."
Akari: (trembling) "He did?"
Kenta: "He said to protect you."
Sui: (grabbing his hand) "What do we do?"
Kenta: "My father's journal has their headquarters address. And a list of names. People who helped them. People who fought them."
Yui: "You want to fight them?!"
Kenta: (quietly) "They killed my father. They hunted Akari's family. They're still out there."
Sui: (firmly) "Then we fight together."
Yui: (nodding) "All of us."
Akari: (holding him) "I'm not leaving your side. Ever."
Kenta: (looking at them) "I love you. All of you."
Sui: (kissing his cheek) "We know."
Yui: (kissing his other cheek) "We love you too."
Akari: (kissing his lips) "Forever."

[Scene: Hospital - Night]
(The girls are asleep in chairs around his bed. Kenta is awake. Staring at the ceiling. The book is on his bedside table.)
Kenta: (thinking) "Father. I found it. I know now. I'll finish what you started."
(He reaches for the book. Opens it to the last page.)
Kenji's Handwriting: "Kenta, if you're reading this, you're ready. Don't be afraid. You have more power than you know. And you have people who love you. Use both. Protect them. End this."
Kenta: (whispering) "I will, Father. I promise."
(He closes the book. Looks at the girls. Sleeping. Peaceful.)
Kenta: (thinking) "For them. For you. For everyone they've hurt."

[Scene: Kenta's Room - After Discharge]
(They're back home. Kenta sits at his desk. Thirty-eight items now. He adds the book. And a photo of his father.)
Kenta: (looking at them) "Thirty-eight."
(He touches his locket. Four photos inside. Sui. Yui. Akari. Himself.)
Kenta: (thinking) "Father. I have them now. And I have your truth. I'm ready."
(He picks up the astrolabe.)
Kenta: "For you."
(The astrolabe gleams.)

(They lie on the bed. Four in a row. Kenta in the middle. Sui on his left. Yui on his right. Akari beside Yui.)
Sui: "Kenta-kun... what happens now?"
Kenta: "We live. We love. We prepare."
Yui: "For the organization?"
Kenta: "For anything."
Akari: (holding his hand) "We'll be ready."
Kenta: "I know."
Sui: (kissing his cheek) "For the future."
Yui: (kissing his other cheek) "For us."
Akari: (kissing his lips) "For your father."
Kenta: (kissing her back) "For all of us."
(They sleep. Four together. Hearts beating as one.)
Kenta: (thinking, last thought) "Father. I'm not alone. And I will end this. I promise."
