Chapter 10 - The Open Road

Han Gyul woke to sunlight streaming through unfamiliar windows and the warm weight of Mi-Ran draped across his chest. For a moment, he simply lay there, cataloging the sensations, her soft boobs pressed against his side, her leg thrown possessively over his thighs, her breath warm and steady against his skin. The room smelled of sex and her perfume and the faint sweetness of the wine they'd shared. He kissed the top of her head, and she stirred, blinking up at him with sleepy, satisfied eyes.

"Morning," she murmured, her voice husky with sleep.

"Morning beautiful."

She smiled, that slow, contented smile of a woman who'd been thoroughly pleased. "You're still here."

"I told you I would be."

She propped herself up on one elbow, letting the sheet fall away, revealing her magnificent boobs in the morning light. He reached up instinctively, cupping one, thumb circling her nipple until it hardened.

"If you keep doing that," she warned, "we'll never make it to breakfast."

"Is that a problem?"

She laughed, swatting his hand playfully. "Yes. I'm starving and you wore me out completely last night."

"Worth it?"

"So worth it." She leaned down to kiss him, soft and lingering. "Now feed me. I have showings today, and I need energy."

---

They made breakfast together in her beautiful kitchen, moving around each other with easy intimacy. She wore one of his button-up shirts again, and he wore only his pants, and they kept stealing touches and kisses between tasks. By the time they sat down to eat, the food was slightly burned and neither cared.

"So," she said, pouring them both coffee, "what does your day look like?"

"Just Work, presenting a campaign this afternoon"

They had breakfast together, talking, laughing and then he kissed her and left.

---

The soulmate bond pulsed gently as he left her apartment, a warm awareness of Ji-Ah going about her morning, probably getting ready for work herself. He smiled, feeling connected to both of them in different ways, and headed for Hana Financial.

---

The café was bustling with the morning rush when he arrived. Office workers lined up for their caffeine fixes, chatting and checking phones, the usual chaos of a weekday morning. He joined the queue, content to wait, and when he reached the counter, Min-Jung's face lit up with recognition.

"Han Gyul-ssi!" She smiled warmly, and he noticed the slight flush on her cheeks. "The usual?"

"You remembered."

"I remember everything about my regulars." She busied herself making his coffee, black, one sugar, the way he'd ordered yesterday. "And you're not just a regular anymore. You're my boss."

"Your boss who's also a regular." He accepted the coffee, their fingers brushing. "How's business this morning?"

"Good but busy." She leaned against the counter, her eyes soft with curiosity. "How are you settling in upstairs? Marketing treating you well?"

"So far, so good. I have a presentation today. We'll see how that goes."

"I'm sure you'll do great." She said it with such genuine warmth that he felt something shift in his chest. "You seem like the kind of person who succeeds at whatever they try."

He smiled, holding her gaze a moment longer than necessary. "That means a lot coming from you."

**[Heartbeat State: Pink (Fluttering)]**

Pink. Finally. He'd moved her from gray to pink with just a few conversations and a genuine smile.

"Min-Jung-ssi," he said softly, "can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"Have dinner with me sometime. Nothing formal, just two people who run businesses in the same building sharing a meal. If you're comfortable with that."

Her eyes widened, surprise and something else flickering across her features. "I... I don't..."

"No pressure." He held up a hand, gentle, reassuring. "Think about it. We can talk more later. I just..." He shrugged, letting vulnerability show. "I enjoy talking to you. That's all." She was quiet for a moment, then nodded slowly. "I'll think about it. Thank you for asking." He raised his coffee in a small toast. "That's all I ask."

---

The marketing department buzzed with its usual energy. Han Gyul settled at his desk, reviewing his campaign one last time, making minor adjustments, ensuring everything was perfect. Min-woo stopped by to wish him luck, and other team members offered encouraging nods as they passed.

At 10 AM, his phone buzzed.

**Soo-Jin:** *Come to my office now.*

He stood, straightened his tie, and walked toward the glass-walled office at the far end of the floor. Through the windows, he could see her at her desk, focused on something on her computer. She looked up as he approached, and for a moment, their eyes met. Something passed between them, brief but electric.

He knocked on the open door.

"Come in and close it."

He obeyed, taking the seat across from her. Today she wore a charcoal blazer over a cream silk blouse, the combination professional but undeniably feminine. Her hair was perfect, makeup impeccable, expression serious.

"I reviewed your campaign again this morning," she said without preamble. "It's exceptional. Better than exceptional. It's exactly what Jeong-dong needs."

"Thank you, Team Leader."

"Which is why I'm pulling you from today's presentation." She held up a hand before he could respond. "Min-woo will present it. He's competent, and he's been briefed. You have a different assignment."

Han Gyul raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"

"There's a client in Busan. Mid-sized manufacturing company, potential to become one of our largest accounts. They've been resistant to our pitches for months, but..." She leaned forward slightly, and he caught a hint of her perfume. "Your campaign gave me an idea. A fresh approach that might actually work, but I need to present it in person, and I need someone who understands the thinking behind it."

"You want me to come with you."

"I want you to come with me." She held his gaze, and there was something in her eyes he hadn't seen before. Respect, maybe. Or curiosity. "We'll leave this afternoon. Overnight in Busan, meetings tomorrow morning, drive back tomorrow evening. Can you do that?"

"Absolutely."

"Good." She sat back, and he noticed the slight relaxation in her shoulders. "Do you have a car? It's easier to drive than deal with trains and taxis."

He opened his mouth to say no, then stopped.

"I try."

**[Affinity +2]**

**[Current Affinity: 14/100]**

**[Heartbeat State: Gray (warming)]**

---

He left her office, grabbed his jacket, and headed for the elevator. His mind raced through options, locations, budgets. Two hours to buy a car. A task that would take most people weeks.

*System,* he thought as the elevator descended. *Where do I go?*

---

**[NAVIGATION ASSISTANCE ACTIVATED]**

**Nearest Luxury Dealership:** 3.2 km

**Dealership Name:** SEGO Motors Gangnam

**Inventory:** Genesis, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, plus premium Korean brands

**Travel Time:** 12 minutes by taxi

**Recommended Model:** Nova Genesis Q9 (flagship sedan) or equivalent

---

The taxi dropped him at a gleaming showroom of glass and chrome. SEGO Motors occupied an entire city block, its facade a testament to automotive luxury. He walked through the automatic doors and immediately felt the shift in atmosphere, hushed and elegant, with the subtle scent of leather and new car smell. And there, approaching him with a professional smile, was a woman who made him stop breathing.

She was tall, nearly his height even in flats, with dark hair pulled back in a sleek ponytail. Her face was striking rather than pretty, sharp cheekbones, full lips, intelligent eyes that assessed him in a single glance. She wore a tailored pantsuit that couldn't hide the generous curves beneath, and she moved with the confidence of someone who owned every room she entered.

**[TARGET DETECTED]**

The blue text appeared:

---

**TARGET PROFILE**

**Name:** Cha Yeon-Hwa

**Age:** 37

**Type Classification:** The Elegant Executive / Independent Spirit

**Affinity Level:** 5/100

**Heartbeat State:** Gray

**Professional Status:** Owner/CEO, SEGO Motors Gangnam

**Relationship Status:** Single. Divorced (4 years). No children.

**Physical Assessment:**

- Height: 175cm

- Bust: 36DD

- Waist: 25 inches

- Hips: 37 inches

- Overall: Commanding presence, stunning figure

**System Analysis:**

- Primary Desire: A man who isn't intimidated by her success

- Secondary Desire: Genuine connection without ulterior motives

- Vulnerability: Surrounded by people who want things from her; deeply lonely beneath the confident exterior

**Observations Notes:** Yeon-Hwa built this dealership from nothing. She's brilliant, ruthless in business, and untouchable. Men either fear her or want to use her. She's learned to spot both at fifty paces. Approach with confidence and absolute honesty.

**INT Check: Successful.**

**Hidden Desire Detected:** She fantasizes about a man who sees past the CEO to the woman beneath. Someone who can match her intensity but also make her feel soft, safe, desired.

---

"Welcome to SEGO Motors." Her voice was low, melodic, with a slight huskiness that sent a shiver down his spine. "I'm Cha Yeon-Hwa, the owner. How can I help you today?"

Han Gyul smiled, meeting her gaze directly. "I need a car. Something luxurious, comfortable, appropriate for impressing a beautiful woman and I need it in about an hour and a half."

Her eyebrows rose slightly. "An hour and a half is... ambitious."

"I'm an ambitious person."

Something flickered in her eyes. Interest, maybe or amusement. "Follow me."

---

She led him through the showroom, past gleaming vehicles that cost more than most people's homes. Her hips swayed subtly as she walked, and he noticed how other salespeople straightened when she passed, how customers' eyes tracked her movement. She was a queen in her domain, and she knew it.

"What's your budget?" she asked, stopping beside a sleek black sedan.

"Seventy to eighty million. Flexible for the right vehicle."

That made her turn, reassessing him. "Most people your age can't afford a down payment on a car in this range."

"Most people my age haven't had the week I've had."

She studied him for a long moment, and he held her gaze without flinching. Finally, she smiled, a real smile, not the professional mask.

"I like you. You're not trying to impress me with lies."

"Lies are exhausting and I prefer honesty."

"Then let me be honest with you." She gestured at the black sedan. "This is the Nova Genesis Q9. Flagship model, 3.5L V6, 380 horsepower, all-wheel drive. It's quiet, comfortable, fast when you need it to be. Back seats have massage functions, heating, cooling. It says 'I've arrived' without screaming about it."

He walked around the vehicle, running his hand along the smooth lines. It was beautiful, understated but powerful, exactly the impression he wanted to make.

"How much?"

"For you, because I like your honesty, 75 million. Fully loaded, certified pre-owned with 12,000 kilometers but still smells new."

He turned to face her. "I'll take it."

Her eyes widened slightly. "Just like that? No test drive? No negotiation?"

"I trust you and I'm in a hurry." He pulled out his phone. "How do we make this happen quickly?"

She stared at him for a moment, then laughed, a warm, genuine sound. "You're extraordinary. Come to my office. We'll have the paperwork done in thirty minutes."

---

Her office was elegant, all glass and leather and minimalist design. She guided him through the process efficiently, clearly accustomed to making things happen. As they waited for final approvals, she leaned back in her chair and studied him with open curiosity.

"Tell me about yourself, Han Gyul-ssi. What does a man your age do that requires a 75 million won car and an hour and a half deadline?"

"I work in marketing at Hana Financial and I need to impress my boss this afternoon. She's... particular."

"Your boss is a woman."

"Yes."

"And you want to impress her."

"I want to show her that I'm serious. That I'm worth her time." He met her gaze. "The car is part of that, but it's not the most important part."

"What's the most important part?"

"Being genuine. Showing her that I see her as more than just a boss." He paused, then added: "The same way I'm being genuine with you."

Something shifted in her expression, a crack in the professional facade. "You're dangerous, you know that?"

"So I've been told."

Yeon-Hwa handed him the keys, her fingers brushing his in the exchange. "Pleasure doing business with you, Han Gyul-ssi. Drive safely."

"I will. And Yeon-Hwa-ssi?"

"Yes?"

"I'll be back. Not just for the car." He smiled. "I'd like to continue our conversation sometime. When I'm not in a hurry."

She blinked, clearly caught off guard, then smiled slowly. "I'd like that. Call the dealership. They'll put you through to me directly."

"Count on it."

---

He drove the Nova Genesis out of the showroom and immediately understood why people loved luxury cars. The engine purred, the suspension absorbed every imperfection in the road, and the interior wrapped him in leather-wrapped comfort. The Master Driver skill hummed in the background, making every action instinctive, perfect.

First stop: his apartment. He packed quickly, a small bag with enough for one night. Then he pulled out his phone and sent messages.

**To Ji-Ah:** *Business trip to Busan with my boss, will be back tomorrow night. I'll text you. Miss you already.*

**To Mi-Ran:** *Headed to Busan for work, will be back tomorrow. Thinking of you. ❤️*

**To Min-Jung:** *Had to leave for a business trip. Hope you have a great day. I'll see you when I'm back. 😊*

The responses came quickly:

**Ji-Ah:** *Be safe. ❤️*

**Mi-Ran:** *I'll miss you. Text me tonight if you can.*

**Min-Jung:** *Safe travels, Boss. 😊*

---

At 2:55 PM, he pulled up to the Hana Financial building's front entrance. At 3:00 exactly, Kang Soo-Jin walked out. She'd changed. Gone was the blazer, replaced by a more casual but still elegant jacket over her silk blouse. She carried a small overnight bag and looked, for the first time since he'd met her, slightly uncertain. Then she saw the car.

She stopped walking, her eyes widening slightly as she took in the Nova Genesis, sleek and black and unmistakably expensive. He got out, walking around to open the passenger door, and watched her expression shift from surprise to something else.

"You said you had a car." Her voice was carefully controlled. "You didn't mention it was a 75 million won Genesis."

"You didn't ask."

She stared at him for a long moment, then laughed, a genuine sound he hadn't heard from her before. "You're full of surprises, Han Gyul-ssi."

"I try."

She slid into the passenger seat, and he closed the door behind her. As he walked around to the driver's side, the system flashed:

---

**[BONUS: +10 Affinity with Kang Soo-Jin]**

**Current Affinity:** 24/100

**Heartbeat State:** Pink (Fluttering)

**Vehicle Approval Rating:** S (She's impressed. Very impressed.)

---

He got in, started the engine, and pulled smoothly into traffic. Beside him, Soo-Jin settled into the leather seat, her posture relaxing slightly.

"This is very comfortable," she said quietly.

"The seats massage too. If you want."

She glanced at him, something unreadable in her eyes. "Maybe later."

---

The drive to Busan took about four hours. They talked for the first hour, discussing the client, the campaign, her vision for the presentation, but as the city faded behind them and the highway opened up, the conversation shifted and it became more personal.

"How did you end up in marketing?" he asked.

She was quiet for a moment. "I fell into it, honestly. I studied business, took a job at an agency, discovered I was good at understanding what people want." A pause. "It's ironic, really. I'm good at understanding what strangers want, but terrible at understanding what I want myself."

"And what do you want?"

She turned to look at him, surprise in her eyes. "That's a very direct question."

"You seem like someone who appreciates directness."

She considered that, then nodded slowly. "I want... to feel something. Real. Not just the satisfaction of a deal closed or a campaign launched. Something that makes me feel alive." She laughed softly, self-deprecating. "That sounds pathetic."

"It sounds human."

They drove in comfortable silence for a while. The Master Driver skill made the journey effortless, and he found himself relaxing in a way he hadn't expected. Soo-Jin was different away from the office, softer, more vulnerable, more real.

"Can I ask you something personal?" she said eventually.

"Of course."

"The day you were fired, when you came to marketing... you were different from your file. From everything I'd heard. What changed?"

He considered how to answer. The truth was impossible. But a version of it, carefully edited, might work.

"I hit rock bottom," he said. "Lost my job, my direction, my sense of who I was and in that moment, I realized I had a choice. I could stay there, broken and invisible, or I could become someone new." He glanced at her. "I chose to become someone new."

She was quiet for a long moment. Then, softly: "I think I understand that better than you know."

---

They arrived in Busan as the sun was setting, painting the ocean in shades of gold and rose. Their hotel was a luxury property on Haeundae Beach, and as he pulled into the valet parking, Soo-Jin turned to him.

"Let's have dinner tonight," she said. "My treat, to thank you for driving and for... for being good company."

"I'd like that."

"Seven o'clock at the hotel restaurant." She hesitated, then added: "Dress casually it's not business."

He smiled. "I'll be there."
