Chapter 27 - The Nuri Group and The Soulmate

Monday morning arrived cold and bright, the first hints of winter frosting the windows of Han Investments. The conference room was filled with the quiet hum of anticipation when Han Gyul walked in. Ji-won stood by the whiteboard, markers ready. Sung-ho had his laptop open, spreadsheets glowing. So-young sat with her tablet, a stylus in hand. Mi-sook stood near the door, her notepad ready.

They all looked at him as he took his place at the head of the table.

"I've made my decision," he said. He walked to the whiteboard, picked up a black marker, and circled one name.

**NURI**

"Nuri Group," he said, turning back to them. "Our parent company. Nuri Hospitality for the hotel. Nuri Spirits for Andong Moon. Nuri Markets for the supermarkets. Nuri Café for Min-Jung's. Clean, consistent, premium."

Ji-won nodded slowly. "Nuri. 'World.' I like it. It's bold."

"It's ambitious," Sung-ho added. "But that's the point."

So-young was already typing notes. "The marketing team at Hana will start creative development as soon as we give them the name."

"Good." Han Gyul leaned against the table. "Now, before we finalize the budget, I have a question. If we were to increase the funding, significantly, what more could we do?"

Ji-won frowned. "What do you mean, sir?"

"I mean, the rebrand budget is 12 billion. That covers Japan, China, Southeast Asia. Domestic relaunch. New packaging. Good campaigns. But what if we did more? What if we expanded faster, hit more markets simultaneously, went bigger on the launch?"

Sung-ho's fingers flew across his keyboard. "You're talking about accelerating the timeline. Instead of rolling out in phases, we could launch in Japan, China, and Southeast Asia concurrently. Add Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan. Double the marketing spend in each market. Premium placements in every major airport in Asia. Global PR campaign, not just regional."

"What would that cost?"

Sung-ho calculated for a moment. "Another 8 billion. Maybe 10. Total rebrand and expansion around 20-22 billion."

Han Gyul smiled. "Then let's do it. I'm increasing the budget to 20 billion. I want this to be the biggest premium Korean brand launch in a decade."

The room went silent.

Ji-won stared. "Twenty billion? Sir, that's..."

"A statement," Han Gyul finished. "I want Andong Moon in every duty-free shop in Asia within six months. I want the Nuri name on the lips of every sommelier from Tokyo to Singapore. I want our hotel featured in travel magazines as the destination in Busan. I want this to be the brand that defines Korean luxury for the next generation."

He looked at each of them. "Can we do it?"

Sung-ho exhaled slowly. "With 20 billion, we can do everything we planned and more. We could launch in Hong Kong and Taiwan immediately. Add premium influencer campaigns. Create a global ambassador program. The timeline could shrink by months."

So-young added, "We could also accelerate the domestic rebuild. Full marketing blitz in Seoul, Busan, the major cities. Make sure Koreans see Nuri everywhere before the international campaign even launches."

Ji-won was already sketching on his tablet. "With this budget, we could create a truly integrated brand experience. The hotel's rooftop bar could feature Andong Moon cocktails. The café could sell limited-edition Nuri merchandise. The supermarkets could have dedicated Nuri Spirits tasting stations. Everything connected, everything premium."

Han Gyul nodded slowly, imagining it. "Do it. All of it."

He turned to Mi-sook. "I'll handle the funds transfer personally. Tell the team to prepare for a full-scale launch. I want everything ready to execute within two weeks."

"Yes, sir."

As the team filed out, buzzing with the energy of a 20 billion won mandate, Han Gyul sat back in his chair. He pulled up his system interface.

*System,* he thought. *Transfer 20 billion from trading account to Han Investments operating account. Mark it: Nuri Group Rebrand and Expansion Fund.*

The days that followed were a blur of activity, but Han Gyul had made a promise to himself. He would not let the business consume everything. The women who had been with him from the beginning, who had seen him when he was nothing, they deserved his attention. He owed them that.

---

**Tuesday: Ji-Ah**

He picked her up after work, the Nova Genesis gliding through Seoul's evening traffic. Ji-Ah sat in the passenger seat, her hand in his, her eyes soft.

"You've been busy," she said.

"Too busy. I'm sorry."

She squeezed his hand. "Don't be sorry. Just be here now."

He took her to a small restaurant in Samcheong-dong, a place tucked away in a traditional hanok, where they could talk without being seen. Over bowls of steaming kimchi jjigae and bottles of makgeolli, she told him about Min-jun's soccer tournament, about his mother's latest phone call, about the small moments of her life that he'd been missing.

"He asked about you," she said softly. "Min-jun. He said, 'When is Gyul-hyung coming back? He promised to teach me that game.'"

Han Gyul's heart swelled. "Tell him this weekend. I'll bring the console."

She smiled, and through the soulmate bond, he felt her warmth, her love, her quiet contentment.

Later, at her apartment, he made love to her slowly, reverently. His mouth traced the familiar curves of her body, her boobs, her stomach, the place between her legs that he knew so well. She gasped his name, her fingers tangled in his hair, her body arching beneath him.

"I've missed you," she breathed.

"I've missed you too."

He entered her slowly, watching her face, feeling her wrap around him. They moved together in the darkness, the city lights filtering through the curtains, and when she came, it was with his name on her lips and tears on her cheeks. He followed soon after, buried deep, holding her close.

Afterward, she lay on his chest, her fingers tracing lazy patterns on his skin.

"You're building something incredible," she murmured. "I can feel it. Through the bond, I can feel your excitement, your drive."

"I'm building it for us. For Min-jun. For everyone."

She lifted her head, looking at him. "I know. That's why I love you."

**Wednesday: Soo-Jin**

She met him at his apartment, dressed in a black dress that clung to every curve. Her hair was down, her makeup perfect, her eyes hungry.

"I've been thinking about you all week," she said, pushing him against the door as soon as it closed. "You've been gone."

"I'm here now."

She kissed him, deep and demanding, her hands already pulling at his shirt. He lifted her easily, her legs wrapping around his waist, and carried her to the bedroom.

He laid her on the bed, stripping off her dress, revealing the body he knew so well. Her boobs spilled free, full and heavy, and he lowered his mouth to them, sucking, licking, teasing until she was writhing beneath him.

"I need you," she gasped. "Now."

He entered her with one thrust, and she cried out, her nails digging into his back. They moved together fiercely, urgently, weeks of separation pouring into every touch, every kiss. She came first, her body clenching around him, and he followed, burying himself deep.

They lay tangled together afterward, breathing hard.

"You're going to be famous," she said eventually. "The rebrand, the expansion... everyone's talking about it."

"I'm just getting started."

She smiled, a rare, soft smile. "I know."

**Thursday: Mi-Ran**

He arrived at her apartment with flowers and wine, but she barely let him through the door before she was in his arms.

"I've been so lonely," she whispered against his neck. "I know you're busy, but..."

"I'm here now." He kissed her, soft and deep. "And I'm not going anywhere."

They made love slowly, tenderly, her body responding to his with a desperation that bordered on reverence. He worshipped her, his mouth on her neck, her shoulders, the valley between her boobs. He tasted her, made her come on his tongue, then entered her and watched her face as she came again.

But afterward, as she lay in his arms, something shifted. She looked up at him, her eyes wet.

"I love you," she said. "I know I've said it before, but... I mean it, Gyul. I love you more than I've ever loved anyone."

He cupped her face, his thumb brushing away her tears. "I love you too, Mi-Ran."

She kissed him, and in that kiss, he felt something new. Not just desire, not just affection, but something deeper. Something permanent.

Han Gyul held her close, feeling the new bond settle into place, a warm pulse of love and connection that joined the others in his chest.

"What is it?" she murmured, sensing his shift.

"Nothing." He kissed her forehead. "Everything's perfect."

---

**Friday: Min-Jung**

He stopped by the café in the morning, as he always did. She was behind the counter, her hair pulled back, her smile warm.

"The usual?" she asked.

"Actually," he said, leaning against the counter, "I wanted to ask you something."

Her cheeks flushed slightly. "What is it?"

"Dinner. Tonight. Just the two of us."

She looked down, her hands busy with the espresso machine. "I... yes. I'd like that."

**[Affinity +8: Jung Min-Jung – 21 → 29/100]**

That evening, he took her to a quiet restaurant in Itaewon, a place with soft lighting and private booths. She wore a simple dress, elegant and understated, and her eyes were bright with nervous excitement.

They talked for hours, about her daughter, about the café, about his plans for the rebrand. She laughed at his stories, listened with genuine interest, and when he walked her home, she kissed him on the cheek, soft and quick.

"Thank you," she whispered. "For tonight. For everything."

"There's more to come," he said. "If you want it."

She smiled, and in her eyes, he saw the first stirrings of something more.

---

**Saturday: Yeon-Hwa**

He visited the dealership, ostensibly to check on his car's service. Cha Yeon-Hwa came out to greet him herself, her eyes sharp, her smile professional but warm.

"Han Gyul-ssi. It's been a while."

"I've been busy. But I wanted to see you."

She raised an eyebrow. "See me? Or see your car?"

He smiled. "Both."

She laughed, and for a moment, the professional mask slipped. "Dinner sometime?"

"Name the time and place."

**[Affinity +5: Cha Yeon-Hwa – 12 → 17/100]**

**Sunday: Mi-sook**

He found her in the office, working late on the rebrand documents. She looked up when he entered, surprise flickering across her face.

"Sir? It's Sunday."

"I know." He sat across from her. "You've been working too hard."

She laughed softly. "Someone has to."

He studied her for a moment. At forty-five, she was beautiful in a way that had nothing to do with youth. Her eyes were kind, her smile genuine, her curves generous beneath her simple blouse. She had been a widow for eight years, had raised a daughter alone, had buried herself in work to escape the loneliness. The system had shown him all of this, but seeing her now, he understood it differently.

"Mi-sook-ssi," he said quietly, "thank you. For everything you've done. For working late, for keeping this place running, for being exactly what this company needed."

Her cheeks flushed. "It's my job, sir."

"It's more than that." He stood. "And I see it. I see you."

She looked up at him, something shifting in her expression. "Sir..."

"Have dinner with me sometime. When the rebrand is launched. When we have time to breathe."

She was silent for a long moment, then nodded slowly. "I'd like that."
