Chapter 33 - A Chaotic Morning

SASHA ROSARIO'S POINT OF VIEW

Something heavy was pressing down on my chest, stealing my breath until I felt like I might suffocate. I jolted awake, gasping, half-convinced someone was strangling me—only to find Dallius's arm draped across my ribs, his weight warm and solid against my skin.

Sleep vanished in an instant. My eyes went wide as saucers, taking in his peaceful face, his lashes fanned dark against his cheeks. A thrill shot through me so sharp I nearly trembled, pure joy bubbling up in my chest.

"H-Holy hell!" I whispered, biting my lip to hold back a squeal as I stared at him.

Last I'd known, the three knuckleheads were still out doing gods-knew-what, and I'd fallen asleep alone. But here he was—right here—lying beside me.

I scanned the room, confused. No sign of the trio anywhere. My eyes were blurry with sleep, so I rubbed them hard and glanced at the ceiling—still dark, no hint of dawn peeking through the windows.

What time even was it?
