Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 The Shore of the Salt-Flats

712.M30 Cygnis III, on the shores of the Salt Flats.

A man could be seen lying on the chem-stained coastline of crystalline salt in a daze. His gaze giving nothing away as his eyes, kept looking left to right sometimes with understanding and others with confusion and doubt.

"Great. Now, get out of here,"

"I need to figure out how to stand up without falling on my face. This body is too big." the man said as he tried to get up from the floor with no luck.

This is Caspian, who had just met his fragments for the first time.

"Well this is new," It really is new to him and probably everyone in the world.

To have never learned to walk in your life and now you are 2 or 3 times the size of a regular person.

He starts by moving his head, then neck, hands, feet, waist, and every part of his body individually. It is not something we think about when we are born and grow up, because the change is gradual in our minds.

What happens when it is sudden and the gap this big, from baby to a 10ft tall giant, with muscles wrapped around bone like steel cords.

Gradually he is getting the hang of things, learning how to move his mass slowly. Within a few minutes and the support of the ledge, he slowly rose to his feet. He began to look around to catch his bearings and understand his surroundings.

'Got to get clothes first,' he thought to himself. Though as he did so, he remembered the image of what happened to his mother when she was carrying him back then.

'More than 50 years have passed', he felt a little melancholic with the situation. He remembered the moment his father killed him, and how quickly his mother dumped him to die. All of these things weighed on him seriously.

With the need for clothes he would have to go into a human settlement and he would risk killing almost all the inhabitants of the place he went to.

He had too, because since he woke up he noticed that the planet he is on, seemed not to be completely under human control.

With shaky steps he began walking south, opposite where his mother took him through.

("Trajan, what are you doing?") Although he said it out loud, he was talking to no one here.

("Solve your situation first then we will talk"), a voice rang out in his mind. The Custodian was back on his way back to Terra to complete the Unification and possibly wait for the beginning of the next battle.

("You are no fun man. I get the duty thing but you have people around you, I am the only one within this area.") Caspian complained as he walked, getting used to it.

Although he still stumbled and occasionally fell, he is once more learning how to walk.

Within the shadows of the forest unknown to Caspian he was being watched by the very forest he was in. Things that move in the shadows and things that will break the mind of those that see it.

At this moment there is a dog, larger than a horse with some parts of its skin missing, and glowed with lava. It stared at Caspian as he tried to adjust to walking waiting for a moment to pounce.

Grwww

The monster, having made its decision, started in a sprint in Caspian's direction. An insatiable hunger growling in it.

As soon as it was just over 4km from Caspian, it flinched. The dog found itself unable to think, something was hurting it, burning its soul.

'What is that' Caspian turned to see the dog writhing on the ground. He has never seen anything like this before, so he went to check and see what it is.

The moment he got close to the giant dog, the beast as if injected with stimulants, pounces and bits at Caspian. Not used to being attack he blocked with his hands.

Arkk

A piece of his flesh is bitten off by the dog, in a reflex he swings his other arm wide and connects a punch with the dog's head.

BANG!!

The dog explodes into a mist of ectoplasmic residue, not of blood but of a red gas that dissipates along with a howl.

("FURRUM, AURELIAN, do you guys know what this is, TELL ME QUICKLY") with a mixture of pain and anger, he asks the others.

There is no response at first, until he hears.

("[Response]: Theoretical: Combat-stimulus is the most efficient vector for neuro-muscular calibration. [Practical]: Solve the local threat or face biological cessation. Growth is mandatory.")

("Hmmm") after hearing the response from the Magos Ferrum-Rho, Aurelian also refrained from helping Caspian.

The both of them realized that Caspian would need to step out of his thinking and face the world he is in now. This is not the society of politeness, but one of power and ever present danger.

("What does that mean? I am simply asking a question") Caspian retorted.

("Growth") Aurelian's voiced out a single word.

Caspian, now on his own to deal with bleeding, could only continue on his journey in anger. He had assumed that with the inclusion of the others he will have some support, but, what could he do?

They have been around for over 50 years so who was he to argue?

He moved with more purpose now. Sprinting when he could as he got a better handle on movement. At first slow and other times so fast that he could cover 2km in a minute. Until he came out of the forest to see a debilitated city,

It is not sure if this is a human built city, even if not it is time for Caspian to get some clothes. He moved towards the city with as much stealth as someone his size could.

He saw some humans in the distance within the city, wearing breathing masks, and fully covered.

As he neared the fallen walls of the city, the occupants felt a shiver go down their spines. A sense of wrongness came upon them, they all moved as far away, some in tears, some in fear, but all moved away as the feeling came closer.

By the time he was in the city, it looked like a deserted place, left in a hurry, something he is all too knowledgeable about.

Locating clothes and possibly a weapon would be his next steps because, if he is to understand this place, he must traverse the land.
