"You have an exam today, right?"
Roman's voice cut through the quiet of the apartment as he adjusted the cuff of his shirt near the doorway. Jay looked up from the kitchen counter where he had been staring blankly at an open textbook that he hadn't actually read for the last ten minutes. His mind had been wandering—back to last night, to the warmth of Roman's hands, to the marks still scattered across his skin.
"Yeah," Jay answered, rubbing the back of his neck. "Ten o'clock."
Roman studied him for a moment. There was something almost analytical in the way his gaze moved, taking in the oversized hoodie Jay had pulled on, the collar drawn higher than usual, the sleeves covering most of his hands.
"You're hiding them," Roman observed calmly.
Jay exhaled, tugging the collar slightly higher. "I don't think showing up to an exam covered in hickeys is the smartest move."
Roman's lips curved faintly, amused rather than apologetic.
"Probably not."
Jay shot him a look.
