Jay exhaled slowly as he shut his system down, the screen going dark in front of him. His fingers stayed on the desk for a second longer than necessary, like he was grounding himself, making sure nothing slipped out of control. His expression didn't change, but something underneath it had already shifted. Not loud. Not visible. Just… different.

He walked out.
The hallway outside his office felt normal, almost too normal. People still worked, voices low, footsteps steady, the company running exactly the way it always did. Nothing had changed for them.
