Chapter 25: Enemy movements and Happy moments

In the dim, sterile depths of their current hideout, the large monitor cast a cold glow across the room. All For One sat in his high-backed chair, fingers steepled, while Tomura Shigaraki stood beside him, arms crossed, red eyes fixed on the footage playing on screen.

The USJ incident.

Shigaraki's voice was low, calmer than it used to be, but still edged with irritation. "Pause it there."

The image frozen on the moment Cid stood alone in the smoke-filled ruin zone, right when the eye-patch came off. It was almost as if something shifted. Then the footage was resumed and all the villains were quickly dealt with.

"He was supposed to be a non-factor," Shigaraki muttered, scratching at his neck. "We built the perfect counter to him because we knew his quirk would be annoying. We had, smoke screen, speed Quirks, assassins tailored to his line-of-sight shrinking. He should've died in that ambush. Instead he glitches the entire raid by pulling a shonen power up out of his ass. Then he finds the invisible girl's body and turns four of our guys into red mist, and gets another power up. Zoom in on his eyes here, look they changed. His file doesn't say anything about these powers and he has a second design in his other eye now. He literally got a level up mid fight."

All For One remained silent for a long moment listening, absorbing every frame.

"Rewind to the moment his eyes changed," he said quietly.

The footage rolled back. The intricate star pattern bloomed across both of Cid's eyes then the way space seemed to bend visibly around. The way he casually teleports students across the facility, the way he pulls the students to the entrance like it's nothing.

"Fascinating," All For One murmured. "A Quirk that manipulates not just mass and size, but distance and space itself. The potential is… enormous. It would pair beautifully with several of my stockpiled abilities. It's a pity I don't have eyes anymore."

He paused, fingers tapping once on the arm of his chair.

"Still… I want it. It will be useful later. Very useful."

Shigaraki's fingers twitched. "He's an overpowered glitch in the system. Ruined our boss fight before it even started. And now look at this."

He switched the feed to the U.A. Sports Festival footage they had acquired.

They watched cid in the the obstacle race and then the Cavalry Battle

Then the quarterfinal against Yui herself. The public, almost tender way he restrained her in a hug and asked for surrender. The way they walked off the stage hand-in-hand while she pouted and the crowd cooed at how cute they were together.

Shigaraki paused the screen on that exact moment.

"Look at that," he said, voice analytical but laced with irritation. "The invisible girl's death clearly hit him hard, but this one… she's different, the hand holding, the way they are acting. That's a weakness we can exploit. A clear emotional attachment. We can use that against him."

All For One's smile widened, cold and patient.

"Indeed, Tomura. A powerful Quirk paired with an easily exploited personal vulnerability. He will be a thorn in our side if left unchecked. Let's begin gathering information on those eyes… and on the girl. We have time. But not too much. And if we can't retrieve this quirk then we destroy it."

-HSPC Headquarters day of the sports Festiva-

The Hero Public Safety Commission's secure analysis room was quiet except for the low hum of monitors and the occasional click of a keyboard.

A long conference table was covered in tablets, printed reports, and paused footage from both the USJ incident and the just-concluded Sports Festival. Three senior analysts and the Director herself sat at the head of the table, expressions tight.

The Director leaned back in her chair, fingers steepled, eyes fixed on the final frozen image of Cid standing alone in the center of the tournament stage, hands in his pockets, looking bored after instantly removing Todoroki from the match.

One of the analysts cleared his throat and spoke first.

"Initial assessment from his last evaluation before U.A. placed him at national threat potential if he turned to villainy. Controllable, but dangerous. What we're seeing now…"

He tapped a key. The screen split to show metrics side by side showing the massive increase in the new ones at least what they hypothesized.

"…is something we never projected. He's operating at levels we didn't even model as theoretically possible for his Quirk. Spatial manipulation on that scale, instantaneous relocation of multiple targets, shrinking entire fake cities without visible strain. The growth curve is exponential."

Another analyst added, "His eyes are the key. Whatever awakened during the USJ ambush triggered a secondary evolution. The star pattern in his second eye wasn't present in any prior test. We have no data on limits anymore. We are guessing that one eye handles mass and size, while the other eye handles space and something else? We aren't sure what though."

The Director's expression didn't change, but her voice was ice-cold.

"We no longer have legal guardianship. He has made his position crystal clear and has rebelled. So we cannot control him through traditional means anymore."

She tapped the table once.

"So we don't try traditional means. We need to use our resources to pressure him indirectly."

The room fell silent as the implication settled.

One of the analysts nodded slowly. "We still have influence over almost every major agency and internship program in the country. We can quietly block every request that is submitted to him. Make sure no reputable hero office even thinks about requesting him for an internship. Force him into dead-end placements or none at all. Petty, but effective. It reminds him who still holds the strings."

The Director's lips curved into the faintest, coldest smile.

"Exactly. Let him feel the walls close in. He may have slipped our leash, but we can still make his path as difficult as we choose. Begin the process quietly, but immediately. Every single internship request he files goes in the trash."

She stood, smoothing her suit jacket.

"Dismissed."

-Back at the stadium-

The final cheers of the Sports Festival were still echoing through the stadium when Cid stepped out of the medal ceremony area. The gold medal hung heavy around his neck, but he barely noticed it. His eyes scanned the crowd until they found Yui.

She was waiting just beyond the crowds, still in her gym uniform, arms loosely crossed. The moment she saw him she lit up. She pushed through the last few lingering spectators and met him halfway.

Without a word she rose onto her toes, pressed a warm kiss to his cheek, then wrapped her arms around his neck in a tight hug. Cid's hand slid around her automatically, his palm settling at the small of her waist as he pulled her closer. For a long moment he just held her there with his chin resting lightly on top of her head.

When she pulled back enough to look up at him, she saw something new in his expression, a surprisingly warm, almost soft look in his eyes that she hadn't seen before. Not the usual lazy half-smile or bored indifference. Something quieter. Something real.

Yui's cheeks flushed bright pink instantly. She smiled, small and shy, and the warmth in his gaze only deepened.

"Congratulations," she whispered.

Cid's thumb brushed a slow circle against her back. "Couldn't have done it without my good luck charm."

They started walking back to the dorm, as people streamed past them in droves giving them kind words.

"Hey, Kageno! Kodai! Nice match earlier!"

Cid gave a polite nod and a brief, "Thanks," his voice low but not cold. Yui offered a small wave and a quick smile, but neither of them stopped walking. They kept moving hand-in-hand through the crowd, giving polite but being extremely brief with every greeting that came their way.

A group of third-years called out, "You two were insane out there!"

Cid's reply was a short, "Appreciate it," paired with a tiny upward twitch at the corner of his mouth. Yui squeezed his hand and kept walking, surprised at how well he was handling all the socializing.

For once he wasn't shrinking away from the attention. There was a subtle spark of excitement in him that only Yui noticed .

They finally reached the shuttle buses that would take them back to the dorms. The ride was quiet, the two of them sitting close together near the back. Cid's hand was wrapped around her waist as she leaned her head against his shoulder.

When they stepped off at Heights Alliance, the sun was already dipping lower.

They walked through the front doors and straight toward the elevator. A few classmates were already in the commons, but Cid and Yui didn't stop to chat. They headed directly for the elevator doors.

Cid pressed the call button, The doors slid open with a soft ding and they stepped inside together with the doors closing behind them.
