Chapter 86 - baby sistaaaaaa

Chapter: Baby Sista

(Jay's POV)

Peace.

That was all I wanted.

Just a little peace in this chaotic house.

I was curled up comfortably on the couch in Keif's room, my legs tucked under the blanket while I read my novel. My head rested against Keif's shoulder as he lazily scrolled through his phone.

His arm was wrapped around me.

Warm.

Comforting.

I turned the page of my book.

"This chapter is getting interesting."

Keif glanced down at the book.

"You've been reading that for hours."

"It's called dedication."

He chuckled softly.

For once the house was quiet.

Too quiet.

Then suddenly—

The door burst open.

"HELLO MY BABY SISTAAAA!"

I didn't even bother looking up.

"…Percy."

Standing at the door was Percy Mariano.

My step brother.

And the biggest troublemaker in existence.

He froze the moment he saw us.

More specifically—

He saw me curled up against Keif.

The room went silent.

Percy blinked once.

Then twice.

Then he slowly pointed at us.

"…What."

Keif sighed.

"Don't start."

Percy ignored him and walked closer slowly like he was investigating a crime scene.

"My baby sister…"

He pointed between us.

"…is sitting on Keif."

"I'm not sitting on him," I said calmly while reading. "I'm leaning."

Percy gasped dramatically.

"OH IT'S WORSE."

Keif rolled his eyes.

"Relax."

"RELAX?!"

Percy pointed at him accusingly.

"YOU STOLE MY SISTER."

I finally looked up from my book.

"You don't own me."

Percy ignored that and kept pacing around the room.

"I leave for a few weeks and suddenly you two are a couple?!"

Keif shrugged.

"Basically."

Percy turned to me with betrayal written all over his face.

"And you didn't tell me?"

"You were gone."

"That's not the point!"

Keif chuckled.

Percy grabbed his head dramatically.

"This is betrayal."

I sighed and closed my book slowly.

"Percy."

"Yes, baby sista?"

"Stop calling me that."

He grinned proudly.

"Never."

Keif smirked.

"She hates it."

Percy's grin got bigger.

"Oh this is amazing."

He sat on the edge of the bed staring at us.

"So tell me something."

He pointed at Keif.

"When did this traitor steal my sister?"

Keif shrugged again.

"She walked into my room."

Percy slowly turned to me.

"You walked into his room?"

"Yes."

"And stayed?"

"Yes."

Percy placed his hand on his chest like he had just been stabbed emotionally.

"…I'm heartbroken."

I rolled my eyes and leaned back against Keif again.

"Drama king."

Keif's arm tightened around me slightly.

Percy stared at that.

Then his eyes widened.

"WAIT."

He pointed again.

"You're comfortable like that."

Keif smirked.

"She basically lives here now."

"I do not."

Percy stared at me like I had betrayed him personally.

"My baby sister moved in with him?!"

"I didn't move in."

"Then why are you always in his room?"

"…Because his couch is comfortable."

Percy looked completely unconvinced.

Then he suddenly pointed at Keif again.

"You better treat her right."

Keif raised an eyebrow.

"Or what?"

Percy cracked his knuckles.

"Or I'll remind you who trained you."

Keif laughed.

"Please."

I sighed and reopened my book.

"You two are exhausting."

Percy suddenly leaned over my shoulder trying to read the page.

"What are you reading?"

"A novel."

"What's it about?"

"People who mind their own business."

Keif burst out laughing.

Percy looked offended.

"You're rude."

"You started it."

Percy stood up dramatically again.

"Fine."

He pointed at both of us.

"But I'm watching you two."

Keif smirked.

"You've been here five minutes."

"And I already regret leaving you alone together."

I shook my head.

"Get out."

Percy grinned.

"Love you baby sista."

"PERCY."

He ran out of the room laughing before I could throw my book at him.

The door slammed.

Silence returned.

Keif chuckled softly.

"Your step brother is insane."

I leaned against him again and turned the page of my book.

"He always has been."

Keif looked down at the book.

"So where were you?"

"Finally back to peace."

From the hallway Percy suddenly shouted again—

"BABY SISTAAAA!"

I closed my eyes slowly.

"…I'm going to kill him."

Keif laughed.

And just like that—

The peace lasted exactly two minutes.
