Louis' POV
Claire left me. It sounded almost funny now that I thought about it.
I drove back home in silence. Claire wasn't coming back with me. She wasn't going home.
Over the past few weeks, I had grown used to her presence. The way her scent filled the hallways when I walked in, the way it soothed me even on the days we weren't seeing eye to eye.
I had never thought marriage was something I'd look forward to, but this fake one had started to feel the most real thing in my life. I was slowly loosening up, beginning to see a brighter picture.
A picture where Claire and I were together, whether dating or even marriage, living together in harmony.
I couldn't be sure where Claire stood, but I knew one thing for certain: I was falling for her. Not in an obsessive, controlling way, but with genuine feelings.
And now that she was carrying my child, my heart couldn't feel any fuller.
I couldn't help the smile that broke across my lips. "Wow… I'm going to be a father."
