Claire's POV
When I got closer, I finally found my voice and I had to confirm. "Sydney?"
The woman in question turned.
And the moment she did, her lips curved into a wide, easy smile, a clear distinction from the sly and arrogant one I was faced with back then.
"Oh," she said brightly, "Claire. Fancy meeting you here."
Not on my end. This was awkward.
Even though I knew about what happened between her and Louis. It doesn't make it any more weird. Not with all the tabloid takes, the gossip, and everything that had happened in between.
"Hey," I responded curtly, offering a tight smile. "Likewise."
Heather's gaze bounces between us, her brows knitting together. "Do you two know each other?"
Sydney and I answer at the same time.
"Yeah."
Mine was with a little less enthusiasm though. Sydney, on the other hand, doesn't seem rattled in the least bit by our sudden interaction.
In fact she looked like she was happy to see me, indifferent even.
