He was almost asleep when Uriel carried him back into the bedroom.
Lin Yue had not moved. She was still curled on her side, her face peaceful, her breathing slow.
Uriel stood beside the bed, looking down at her. Auriel's head rested against his shoulder, his tiny body warm and soft.
"I am afraid I cannot do everything," Uriel said quietly to his son. "Meal time is your mother's job."
Auriel made a small sound, not quite a cry, just a noise.
Uriel sat on the edge of the bed. He reached out and touched Lin Yue's shoulder gently. "Lin Yue."
She did not move.
"Lin Yue," he said again, a little louder. "Your son is hungry."
Her eyes opened slowly, unfocused. She blinked at him, then at Auriel.
"Is he okay?" she asked, her voice rough with sleep.
"He is fed, bathed, lotioned, massaged, dressed, and combed," Uriel said. "Now he needs his mother."
