Chapter 40 - The Glass Wall and a Blue Envelope

Standing at a busy city intersection, Akash (a pseudonym) glanced at his watch. Like every other day, he was racing against time. Between office files, deadlines, and his boss's sharp temper, his life had become a series of mechanical patterns. Yet, ten years ago, when Akash first arrived in this city, there was a different spark in his eyes. He had dreamed of painting his visions on canvas, but the harshness of reality had eventually locked him away in a corporate cage.

A City of Silence

Akash's flat was in one of the tallest buildings in the city. From the outside, it looked like the pinnacle of sophistication, but inside, the walls were hauntingly silent. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, he would wake up feeling as though he were standing behind a glass wall—he could see the world outside, but he couldn't touch it. In this crowd of thousands, he felt profoundly alone. In his rush to win the rat race, he had somehow lost himself.

That Old Drawer

One rainy evening, during a power outage, Akash was rummaging through an old drawer in the storeroom looking for candles. Beneath a pile of dust-covered papers lay a blue envelope. As he opened it, the scent of old paper wafted through the air. It was a letter from a childhood friend, tucked away and neglected for years. The letter ended with a simple note: "Akash, don't kill the little boy inside you while growing up. Remember, life without color is awfully bland."

Sitting in the candlelight that rainy night, Akash remained still for a long time. He realized he was merely existing, not living. He had no scarcity of money, but where was the fulfillment?

A New Beginning

The next morning, instead of rushing to the office, Akash pulled out his old brushes and paints. His office laptop remained shut. He made the first stroke on a canvas by the window. At first, his hands trembled, but slowly, his brushwork began to reveal a breathtakingly beautiful dawn. He understood that while he had spent years running for others, today, he wanted to stop for himself.

A few weeks later, Akash didn't quit his job, but he finally found his balance. Now, he wakes up every morning to paint for at least an hour. His once-dreary flat is now vibrant with color. When he hangs out with friends, he no longer talks only about office stress; instead, he shares the joy of his new creations.

Redefining Success

Akash realized that a grand achievement isn't the only thing that makes life meaningful. Rather, if you can stand before the mirror of your soul at the end of the day and offer a smile of true satisfaction, then life is beautiful. The glass wall has shattered; he is no longer just a spectator, but an inseparable part of this colorful world.
