Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 – The Swordmaster of Death

________

The ocean was silent.

Too silent.

Izumi moved alone through the deep currents, his dark cloak drifting behind him like a shadow in water. The deeper he descended, the colder the sea became.

But this cold was not natural.

It was heavy.

Dense.

Like something ancient was breathing beneath the ocean floor.

"Mizuchi…" Izumi murmured.

The name itself carried weight.

The Fourth General of the Serpent Lord.

An immortal being.

A creature born from the soul of a god.

He tightened his fist.

"I will defeat you."

Suddenly—

A violent surge of mana exploded from the eastern trench.

Izumi stopped mid-swim.

His crimson eyes narrowed.

That mana…

It was powerful.

Wild.

Clashing.

Someone was fighting.

Without hesitation, Izumi redirected his path toward the disturbance.

As he approached, the sea current became chaotic. Shockwaves rippled through the water.

And then he saw it.

A massive water serpent, its body covered in jagged azure scales, eyes glowing like poisonous emerald flames.

Its fangs were long enough to pierce through a warship.

Opposite the serpent stood a girl.

Her long turquoise hair floated around her like flowing silk. Her armor was silver and sea-green, engraved with ancient elven runes.

In her hand—

A black blade that emitted a faint crimson glow.

She moved swiftly, slashing through the water with elegant precision.

But she was losing.

The serpent roared and slammed its tail against her barrier.

CRACK.

The magical shield shattered instantly.

She was thrown backward, blood escaping her lips.

Izumi's expression darkened.

He could feel it.

This serpent wasn't ordinary.

Its mana density was enormous.

But it wasn't Mizuchi.

Still…

If left alone, the girl would die.

Izumi raised his hand.

The temperature of the surrounding water dropped sharply.

"Ice Crash."

The ocean froze in an instant.

A massive spear of condensed ice erupted forward.

The serpent barely had time to react.

BOOM.

The frozen impact pierced straight through its scaled body.

Cracks of ice spread violently across its form.

The creature screeched.

Then shattered.

Its body dissolved into fading mana particles.

Silence returned.

Only drifting ice fragments remained.

Izumi exhaled slowly.

His ice magic had grown slightly more stable after training with Azore… but his control was still incomplete.

He turned toward the elf girl.

She was staring at him in shock.

"You…" she breathed. "You used ice magic?"

Izumi approached calmly.

"Are you injured?"

She blinked.

Then straightened her posture despite the blood at her lips.

"I am fine."

She studied him carefully.

His pointed demonic ears.

His crimson eyes.

His dark mana aura.

"You are not an elf."

"No."

"I am Izumi. Prince of the Water Demons."

Her eyes widened slightly.

"A demon prince… saved me?"

Izumi frowned.

"I saved someone who needed help."

The girl stared at him for a moment longer.

Then she sheathed her blade and bowed her head slightly.

"My name is Dianara Aleazea."

Her voice was firm.

"I am one of the Ten Great Swordmasters of the Elven Race."

Izumi's gaze shifted to the blade at her waist.

"That sword…"

She touched it gently.

"Gurthang."

"The Great Sword of Death."

The blade emitted a faint pulse, as if alive.

Izumi nodded.

"I've heard that name before."

Dianara studied him with renewed interest.

"You know of the Ten Swordmasters?"

"Yes."

"And I believe the previous wielder of Gurthang was Aeloris Elaris."

For the first time, genuine surprise crossed Dianara's face.

"You are well informed."

She looked down briefly.

"She was my master."

"And when she fell in battle… the sword chose me."

Izumi noticed something in her voice.

Grief.

Respect.

Unfinished revenge.

The ocean currents softened slightly.

Dianara looked back at him.

"What brings the Prince of Water Demons into Aquatic Elf territory?"

Izumi hesitated only briefly.

"I seek information."

"About Mizuchi."

The moment the name left his mouth—

The water grew colder.

Dianara's expression changed instantly.

Her fingers tightened around Gurthang's hilt.

"…Why?"

Izumi looked directly into her eyes.

"I must defeat him."

She stared at him as if he had just said something absurd.

"Defeat Mizuchi?"

Her voice trembled slightly.

"Do you even understand what that creature is?"

"I understand that he is immortal."

Dianara froze.

"…You know?"

"Yes."

"But I also know that immortality does not mean invincibility."

Silence lingered between them.

Then Dianara spoke quietly.

"Mizuchi killed my master."

The words were sharp.

Heavy.

The currents around her trembled with suppressed rage.

"I was there."

"I was too weak."

Her voice cracked for a split second.

Izumi did not interrupt.

He understood that feeling.

Powerlessness.

After a moment, she lifted her head.

"If you truly intend to challenge Mizuchi…"

"Then you will need guidance."

Izumi's eyes narrowed slightly.

"You know where I can find him?"

"I know someone who does."

"Who?"

"The Great Elders of the Aquatic Elves."

She turned away slightly.

"If you wish… you may come with me."

Izumi considered briefly.

An alliance with an elven swordmaster was not something demons usually pursued.

But this was not about pride.

It was about strength.

And destiny.

"…Very well."

Dianara gave a short nod.

"Follow me."

As they swam through the ocean depths together, Izumi felt something unfamiliar.

This was the first time someone from another race had chosen to stand beside him willingly.

Not out of fear.

Not out of obligation.

But because of shared purpose.

Perhaps…

Peace was not as impossible as the world believed.

Yet deep within the abyss…

Far below where light could ever reach—

Two ancient emerald eyes slowly opened.

A monstrous presence stirred.

And somewhere in the darkness, a deep voice echoed.

"…Ice mana…"

"Mizuchi senses change."

The ocean trembled.

The Aquatic Elf village was unlike anything Izumi had ever seen.

It was not built.

It was grown.

Massive coral towers spiraled toward the surface like living sculptures. Bioluminescent plants illuminated crystal pathways. Silver fish swam freely between transparent domes of mana barriers.

It felt… peaceful.

Dianara noticed his gaze.

"Beautiful, isn't it?"

"Yes," Izumi admitted.

"No blood. No conquest. Just life."

She looked at him briefly.

"You truly are strange for a demon."

"I hear that often."

They soon arrived at the Royal Palace — a vast structure formed from white coral and moonstone.

Guards immediately tensed at Izumi's presence.

"A demon in the royal palace?" one whispered.

Dianara stepped forward.

"He saved my life."

Silence followed.

Moments later, the throne chamber doors opened.

Upon twin thrones sat the rulers of the Aquatic Elves:

King Aegnor Dildor

Queen Zoanna Dildor

Their presence was calm but powerful — like the quiet pressure of deep waters.

Dianara knelt.

"Your Majesty, this is Izumi. Prince of the Water Demons."

A faint ripple of tension passed through the chamber.

"A demon prince?" the king said slowly.

Izumi bowed respectfully.

"I come not as enemy, but as seeker of knowledge."

Dianara spoke firmly.

"He defeated a high-level water serpent that was about to kill me."

The king's brows lifted slightly.

"With what magic?"

"Ice," Dianara answered.

The entire hall froze.

Even the queen leaned forward.

"Ice magic… in the Water Realm?" she whispered.

King Aegnor's gaze sharpened.

"Only a handful in this realm possess true ice affinity."

He looked directly at Izumi.

"Why are you here?"

Izumi did not hesitate.

"I seek knowledge of Mizuchi."

The atmosphere shifted instantly.

The king's expression darkened.

After a moment, he spoke.

"The Great Elders are the only ones who may speak of that name."

He turned to Dianara.

"Take him to Lord Solas and Lady Fynlore."

They descended beneath the palace into an ancient temple chamber.

Two figures awaited them.

An elderly male elf with long silver hair and calm golden eyes.

And a graceful woman whose presence radiated ancient wisdom.

"Lord Solas Talathel."

"Lady Fynlore Nimrara."

Dianara bowed deeply.

Izumi followed.

Lady Fynlore studied him.

"So this is the demon prince with ice mana."

Izumi met her gaze.

"I wish to defeat Mizuchi."

Lord Solas exhaled slowly.

"Many have wished that."

"None have succeeded."

Izumi remained silent.

Lady Fynlore stepped forward.

"Before we speak of Mizuchi… you must understand the greater truth."

"The Seven Legendary Earthian Gods."

The air grew heavy.

"These beings walk the world yet stand at god-level existence."

She began listing them slowly:

"The Demon King."

"The Thousand-Tails."

"The Dragon Lord."

"The Serpent Lord."

"And three others whose names are sealed by time."

Lord Solas continued.

"The Serpent Lord created four generals to command the Serpent Army."

"Mizuchi Aquaso is the Fourth General."

"He is not merely a serpent."

"He is a fragment of the Serpent Lord's own soul."

Izumi's expression hardened.

"So he cannot be killed."

"Correct," Solas answered.

"He is immortal."

"But he can be defeated."

Izumi clenched his fist.

"That is enough."

Lady Fynlore tilted her head slightly.

"You speak boldly."

"Do you understand what stands in your path?"

Dianara stepped forward.

"If he wishes to fulfill his dream of peace… he must overcome the Elven High Ranks as well."

Izumi looked at her.

She continued.

"The Ten Great Swordmasters of the Elven Race."

One by one, she spoke their names — each carrying weight like legend.

"Ash Healyn — wielder of the Bloodmoon Blade."

"Boreas Tabor — master of Soulshatter."

"Oreal Voss — bearer of Stormcaster."

"Arean Amara — wielder of Thunderstrike."

"Calanoon Wren — guardian of the Eternal Flame."

"Liriel Morgath — master of Icewind Blade."

"Elnord Finrod — wielder of the Moonlight Blade."

"Umra Oberon — master of the Shadow Blade."

"Elvina Zeldra — wielder of Astra Slice."

"And myself… Dianara Aleazea — wielder of Gurthang."

The chamber felt heavier with each name.

"And beyond us," she continued, "stand the Elven King and Queen of all races… the Elven Hero… and the Elf Guardian."

Izumi absorbed the information calmly.

"So many obstacles."

Lady Fynlore observed him carefully.

"You do not look afraid."

"I am."

Silence followed.

"But fear does not change destiny."

Lord Solas nodded slowly.

"You possess rare resolve."

"But you lack mastery."

Izumi lifted his head.

"Then tell me what I must do."

Lady Fynlore's eyes shimmered.

"In the entire Water Realm… there is only one being capable of teaching you true ice magic."

Izumi's breath slowed.

"Who?"

"The Great Mage of Ice."

"Alba Crystal."

Izumi's eyes widened slightly.

"He died during the Seventh Legendary War."

The elders exchanged glances.

"No," Lord Solas said calmly.

"He lives."

The chamber fell silent.

"He is half human. Half aquatic elf."

"A legendary hero."

"The world believes he perished."

"But he resides within the Kingdom of Water Ice… hidden in the deepest sea."

Izumi's heart pounded.

"If I learn from him…"

"You may defeat Mizuchi," Lady Fynlore finished.

Dianara looked at Izumi.

"I will accompany you."

Izumi glanced at her.

"Why?"

She answered without hesitation.

"Mizuchi killed my master."

"And if you are walking toward him… then so am I."

For a brief moment, their eyes met.

Two warriors.

Different races.

One shared purpose.

Lord Solas finally spoke.

"The path ahead will not only awaken ancient monsters."

He looked directly at Izumi.

"It will awaken something far darker."

Izumi narrowed his eyes.

"What do you mean?"

Lady Fynlore's voice lowered.

"There is an organization moving in the shadows."

"They seek to gather fragments of a forbidden scroll."

"If completed… the seal on the Dark Lord will break."

The air trembled slightly.

"They call themselves…"

"The Architect"

Izumi felt a chill deeper than the ocean's cold.

Peace.

Power.

Immortal serpents.

Ancient gods.

And now—

A cult seeking to resurrect darkness itself.

His journey had just grown far more dangerous.

But instead of fear…

A faint smile appeared on his lips.

"Then I will simply become stronger."

The ocean currents outside the temple shifted violently.

Far below—

Mizuchi stirred again.

And somewhere in the deep abyss…

The first piece of destiny began to move.
