I wanted to say yes.
Every broken, bleeding part of me screamed at me to throw myself at Blue's offer, to let him carry me out of this house and never look back. The idea of waking up somewhere safe, somewhere no one would call me a fag or use their fists to "fix" me, felt like the first real breath I'd taken in years.
But the words wouldn't come.
Because trust was a luxury I no longer had.
Caleb had once been my safe place. My person. The boy who caught me kissing a magazine and said "Okay. And?" like it was the simplest thing in the world. Then, in one afternoon, he'd smashed my cake, called me a disease, and stood by while my own brother turned me into a punching bag. He'd smiled like an angel right up until the moment he became a demon.
