Chapter 89 - The School Visit

(LIAM'S POV)

The scream clawed its way out of my throat again, raw and broken, like it had been dragged across gravel.

I bolted upright in bed, chest heaving, sweat pouring down my face in cold rivulets that stung my eyes. My left arm — the one still trapped in its heavy plaster cast — throbbed like a second heartbeat, the pain sharp and relentless from where that monster Blue had snapped the bone like a dry twig weeks ago. Every breath hurt. Every heartbeat reminded me of the nightmares that wouldn't let me rest.

Five days.

Five fucking days since the frying-pan incident turned our house into a war zone, and the dreams had only gotten worse. Mason dying in front of me over and over — jumping, crashing, shooting himself — his eyes always locked on mine, whispering that he'd rather be dead than part of this family. Then the crowd. The beating. My own creative deaths. Last night they'd chained me to the same rooftop Mason had jumped from and set me on fire before throwing me off.
