(MASON'S POV)
The golden rays of the sun painted the world in hues of amber and crimson. The air was crisp and cool, carrying the scent of pine and earth around.
But the moment we emerged, I heard something.
Faint sounds. Whispering. Movement.
I stopped, tilting my head, listening carefully.
"Blue," I said slowly. "Do you hear that?"
Blue smiled at me proudly, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "Your ears are so sharp now, my love. You're right, I can hear it as well."
I could hear it — clear as day. Multiple people hiding just beyond the treeline. Whispers in hushed voices, trying to remain silent but failing spectacularly. This wasn't something I could do before my transformation. This was a new advantage.
"Someone's out there," I whispered, closing my eyes, focusing on the sounds. "Six," I said confidently. "Six people. They're trying to hide, but I can sense them."
