(GILBERT'S POV)
The moment I closed my eyes, I felt it—a thread of something ancient and primal, pulsing deep within my chest, pulling me toward a direction I couldn't name. It was Jasper. It had to be. The bond Iris had spoken of, the connection that had been dormant for so long, now blazed to life like a wildfire.
'Jasper,' I thought, reaching for him with every fiber of my being. 'Jasper, come to me.'
But then reality crashed into me like a wave of ice water.
I was still inside Blue's estate. Blue's home. Blue's territory. And Jasper was a demon—a demon Blue had explicitly referred to as 'crazy'. What would happen if I summoned a Jasper into Blue's home without permission? What would happen to the fragile peace we had just established?
And more than that—I needed to be alone with Jasper. I couldn't have my family watching. I couldn't have their eyes and ears on me while I confronted the man who was apparently my fated mate. This was too raw. Too personal.
