"Where is she going?" I asked,Nadia.
"She wants to make a new stew today, so she'll be cooking it herself," Nadia explained. "She said she doesn't want any distractions, so we'd better stay here."
Alexander stood up as well.
"I need to go to the study to check a document," he said.
"Okay," I replied, trying to sound as casual as possible so Nadia wouldn't suspect anything.
Even though I had a feeling that today's visit wasn't a coincidence.
Nana must have seen the continuous headlines about Alexander and Lilian, which was probably why she wanted us here tonight.
After Alexander left, Nana and I chatted for a while. She was a very open-minded person and one of the few people I had grown comfortable with since arriving at the mansion. Although she was a little older than me, we got along very well.
Nadia was married and had a child, but her family didn't live in Valeridge City. Since we hadn't met in a while, we had a lot to talk about. She told me about her daughter, whom she had left with her in-laws because she had originally come for a business trip but later decided to visit Nana.
Nadia was a very kind and understanding person. Even though I rarely opened up to others, I always felt comfortable talking to her. However, today I tried every possible way to make sure she didn't realize I was hiding something.
We became so absorbed in our conversation that we didn't notice how quickly time passed until my stomach suddenly started grumbling. I got up to check on Nana in the kitchen, but just then I saw her walking out while the staff busily arranged the table.
"Where is Alexander? You two should come and eat," Nana said.
"Alexander is upstairs," I replied as I sat down at the table.
Nana asked one of the staff to call him, and he soon joined us.
Nana eagerly served soup for both Alexander and me.
"Alicia, Alexander, you two should drink more. I specially made this for you. Hurry, try it."
"Nana, please sit down and eat," I said gently.
I lowered my head and was about to take a sip of the soup when suddenly a greasy smell hit my nose. I quickly stood up and rushed to the bathroom, gagging.
Third-Person POV
"Alicia, what's wrong?" Nana asked in surprise. Then her eyes suddenly lit up. "Oh my… Alicia, could you be pregnant?"
Alexander calmly shook his head.
"No. She's been having digestive problems recently. She's been on a special diet and taking medicine."
"Ah? I see. Have you been to the hospital for a check-up?" Rosaline asked, still concerned.
"Alicia already has," Alexander replied.
She shot Alexander a frustrated look."Alicia has, what about you aren't you supposed to be there too?are you even taking care of her?"
" two years of marriage and still no children?"Alexander just remained silent gazing at the soup in front of him.
Alicia finished rinsing her mouth and returned from the bathroom. She pushed the soup aside.
"Nana, I'm really sorry. My stomach has been upset lately, and the smell makes me want to vomit. I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you."
Rosaline quickly waved her hand.
"No, no, it's fine. Your health is what matters."
Then she turned to Alexander and pushed the bowl of soup toward him.
"Alexander, since Alicia can't drink it, you should finish it all."
"Nana, that's a lot. I'm afraid I won't be able to finish it," Alexander said hesitantly, looking at the two bowls of soup.
"How is that a lot?" Rosaline said stubbornly. "How could you not finish it?"
"You're a grown man. Why can't you handle something so small? No wonder you're not useful."
Nadia and Alicia couldn't help but exchange glances before chuckling softly.
