My grip on the phone tightened.
I suddenly remembered—
She couldn't swim.
I closed my eyes.
"She almost drowned," Jane continued, "but thankfully, a staff member rescued her in time."
"Were they caught?" I asked.
"Yes, sir. The chairwoman handed the case over to the company's legal team. The police confirmed the women have been arrested. They requested that Director Alicia come in to verify everything."
"Have they informed her yet?"
"No, sir. It was late, so they planned to tell her in the morning."
"Tell them not to call her. I'll inform her myself."
"Understood, boss."
I ended the call and sat on the edge of the bed, letting out a long breath.
So that was why she looked so pale.
But… why didn't she tell me?
Even when I asked her, she chose to hide it.
The thought lingered in my mind, refusing to fade.
Eventually, exhaustion took over.
And with unanswered questions weighing heavily on me…
I fell asleep.
