The traffic outside the hospital had already backed up, horns blaring impatiently behind us.
For a moment, the noise blurred together—engines, shouting, camera shutters.
Then hospital security rushed in, forcing their way through the crowd.
The pressure around the car loosened slightly.
Jim seized the opening.
The car crept forward at first, inch by inch, before finally breaking free.
Then—he hit the accelerator.
The reporters scattered just enough to avoid being hit, their voices trailing behind us as we sped off.
No one actually dared to stop the car.

"Miss Kendra, I thought you said you'd arrange for me to leave the country. What's happening now?"
Lucas Knight's voice was low and tense as he spoke into the phone, pacing inside the cramped hideout.
On the other end, Kendra's tone was strained.
"I'm trying. You have no idea how complicated things have become on my side. Just stay hidden for now and avoid the police. I'll figure something out."
