Chapter 3 - PLANET GOVERNOR

Reaching them, the Governor extended his hand, at Silas first.

Silas, although shocked, quickly reacted, reciprocating the behavior immediately.

The governor looked at Amelia and gave a slight nod.

"Come sit down," he gestured at the brown sofa that was in a corner of the office.

Silas and Amelia followed him calmly, sitting calmly as they waited for the Governor to settle in his seat.

Then, he looked at them.

"Congratulations on your awakening," he congratulated with a smile.

"Thank you," Silas and Amelia both thanked him with a bow.

They were unaccustomed to such respect, having grown up in orphanages.

The governor's smile faded as they acknowledged his greetings.

"I have sent your results to the Governor of our Orion Sector. He will be here to pick both of you up in about 6 months."

As he said this, he waited to let his words settle in their minds.

After a few seconds, he spoke again.

"Till then, I will host both of you and provide everything our planet can to aid you." As he spoke, a holographic projection unfolded, revealing everything the governor had ordered within the past 3 hours.

The list stretched almost infinitely. Although everything was a basic resource for either boosting aether absorption rates or directly increasing aether, based on the net of the planet, they couldn't afford it without putting a strain on the Planet's finances.

Amelia was the first to speak after seeing them. "Isn't this going to affect the stability of the planet?" She asked calmly, her eyes shifting from the list to the governor.

Before she could receive any answer, the elevator door chimed and slid open.

A maid walked in, pulling a trolley.

Reaching them, she bowed, then proceeded to offload the contents.

Chocolate Cookies served on plates alongside Milk.

She gave the governor a serving, then whispered something to him before leaving.

"Treat yourself," the governor said with a smile as he spread his arms wide.

Amelia and Silas looked into each other's eyes.

They bowed in appreciation and began to eat.

As they ate, the governor spoke.

"As for your question, you don't need to worry yourself with that; all you need to do is advance steadily to pass the entrance exam into the Human Federation Academy," the governor said, breaking a cookie with his teeth.

"But governor, why are you being so nice to us?" Silas asked, cleaning his mouth with his palm.

"Call me Max," the governor corrected. "Maybe Lord Max," he added.

"For your question, although it might seem selfish, if you can rank in the top 1000 in the academy entrance exam, our planet will also be elevated," Max said.

Hearing this, Silas nodded. 'At least he did not try to be righteous,' he thought.

"We will try our best," Amelia said with a straight face.

Max nodded. "Hopefully."

He also knew that it was wishful thinking that they could rank that high in the academy's entrance examination. Talkless of 1000, if they got into the top 10 million, they were already extraordinarily gifted.

'Even if you don't rank that high, if you grow stronger enough, the planet would still benefit from it,' he thought.

They spent the next few hours discussing, at one point, the sun had begun to dip.

"Dinner should be ready, let's go and eat," Max said, standing up from his seat as he walked towards the elevator without waiting for the duo.

Seeing this, Silas and Amelia ran forward immediately, their eyes faces twitching at the governor who abandoned them because of food.

Reaching downstairs, they were back in the same Living room.

Max walked calmly towards the door at the far end of the room.

As he opened the door, various sweet aromas filled their nostrils.

It was a spacious kitchen that spanned close to 500 meters in area.

The place was tiled with a shining mineral that absorbed all the heat in the area, making the place's temperature normal compared to what it was meant to be.

The walls were carved from the same mineral.

They stepped in calmly. There was no one.

Max was not surprised by this; he walked towards the dining table carved at the far end of the kitchen.

On the table were various dishes, each one more mouthwatering than the other.

Sitting down, everyone began to dig into the bowls before them.

One dish in particular seemed to be the star of the show. A small round pastry that had various ingredients rolled into it.

But there seemed to be a problem.

"Silas, Amelia, it seems both of you want the last piece," Max said, his voice soft.

"Let's do this," he stretched his arm to pick it.

Before either of them could even protest, they watched it fly into Max's mouth.

"You don't have to fight over a single chicken wrap," Max said, his words muffled as he chewed the pastry.

He stood up from the table, washed his hands in the sink, and walked out casually under the stunned gaze of both Amelia and Silas.

A smirk was on his lips as he exited.

As he stepped out, Silas turned to Amelia. "Is this our noble planet master?" He asked with a sigh.

Amelia nodded at his question. "I always knew he always put on a facade whenever he gave public speeches."

"To think he even steals from his subjects," she added with a pout.

"You knew," Silas said sarcastically, rolling his eyes.

Amelia looked at him, then a slight smile. "I might not know that, but I know your eye can fall off if you say any other thing," she replied to his taunts.

Silas shivered at the threat. 'I was the one who awakened the SSS-TIER talent here, why am I being threatened?' He thought.

The meal continued with none of them saying anything else.

"That was the best meal I have eaten in ages," Amelia said, rubbing her belly with her palm.

"Well, it is literally the best you have ever had," Silas said, downing a cup of water.

"It seems you really want to lose an eye."

"If you really want to take my eye, why don't we spar a few rounds?" Silas asked.

"Tomorrow morning. Let's settle our eternal feud," Amelia joked.

A maid had entered at one point in their discussion, clearing the table silently.

In less than 3 minutes, all the mess was cleared as the table returned to a pristine state.

"Lord Silas, Lady Amelia, should I take you to your room now?" The maid asked.
