Following Varyn, Blaze was lead into a room with more scientists
"Here is where we keep and analyse the smaller creatures that exist in the underworld" Varyn informed Blaze "insects, amphibians, small birds, reptiles make up most of the numbers here"
"So how are they different to the animals on the human world?" Blaze asked as she looked inside of one of the containers seeming to have a frog in it
As she finished her words the skin of the frog catapulted off of the frogs bones, sending it hurtling backwards and engulfing a large fly that had been hovering behind it, the skeleton, muscles and organs of the frog hopping over and putting its skin back on and enjoy its meal
"There are a variety of ways in which they are different" replied Varyn who had been unfazed by the frogs actions that had caused Blaze to jump in shock "there are spiders with razor sharp legs that stab into anything they climb instead of being able to stick to surfaces, snakes that can shoot their fangs out and poison things from a distance and then immediately grow back their fangs and even flies that give brith by eating to much to the point that they explode and then the children eat the remains of their mother as their first meal"
"Are there any creatures that are , um, less dangerous, and less disgusting?" Blaze asked, not enjoying the image of a fat fly blowing up only for more to come from within it and then eating the corpse of the one who gae birth to it
"Most creatures that exist in the underworld have grown being bathed in demonic energy" Varyn answered "as such most will be either to disgusting to eat or to dangerous to eat, anything that looks cute is actually even more dangerous" gesturing at a bigger enclosure
Within the enclosure was a small pink bunny that was hoping around
"So is that the food for the creature?" Blaze wondered
"No, that is the creature I warned you about" Varyn stated, nodding at a scientist "it is feeding time for it so you will be able to understand why it is so dangerous"
A section of the wall in the enclosure opened and a slab of meat that was at least 3 to 4 times bigger than the rabbit was transported in by a robotic arm
The moment the bunnies eyes locked onto the meat one of it's arms grew into a large hunamoid like apendage, grabinng the whole robotic arm and ripping it off of the wall, then it opened its mouth wider than seemed possible, rows of razor sharp teeth making it look like a sarlac pit with a black void in the center, the tentacles within taking the meat and metal from within causing everything to disappear as the bunny returned to normal, the only evidence anything had happened being the bone chilling sound of metal being crunched on coming from the cute little bunny
"What the Fuck?" Blaze blurted out in shock
"As I said, the cuter it is, the more dangerous" Varyn stated calmly as if he had seen this exact situation hundreds of times before
"Are all the creatures here like that?" Blaze questioned
"Actually no, most of the bigger creatures are more docile, the reason that these creatures are kept here is in order to keep them contained in case any were to escape, the animals outside instead rely on their size to not be eaten and as such do not need to be kept deep within this facility" Varyn responed "also don't worry, most of these creatures are considered endangered and are only found in designated danger zones within the underworld, as such you should not worry about finding creatures such as these in the wild"
"Thank goodness, if there was the possibility of running into stuff like this out there I think I'd stay inside for the rest of the time I am staying in the underworld" Blaze laughed wryly, wiping a drop of nervous sweat from her forehead
"Allow me to show you to where we keep the larger specimens that we look after here" Varyn continued as he walked towards another door
Following him through the doors Blaze found herself on a gangplank above a large expanse of greenery
"This is where we keep the herbivores" Varn informed Blaze "although they aren't dangerous they do have defensive abilities and as such we like to ensure that we are kept at a safe distance from them"
All of a sudden Blaze felt a shockwave hit her, due to her physical strength and the distance away from the source only her hair was rustled a small amount, but looking over she saw the origin of the shockwave
"Why do you have dinosaurs here?" Blaze asked once again, feeling like every other sentence that she spoke was a new question
"They are similar to dinosaurs but they have additional abilities, such as the ones you are currently looking at having the ability to create shockwaves from it's head to blast away predators, there is also another that is able to produce a toxic cloud that makes it so that predators are unable to eat them" Varyn informed Blaze, gesturing to a different part of the enclosure at a creature that was currently sleeping soundly
"There are really weird creatures in the underworld" Blaze commented "but I have to say that these ones seem quite cool"
"There are still more to see" Varyn informed Blaze "next I will show you our outside area, it is where we keep the species that are allowed in the underworld and also where sentient creatures come in order to have regular check-ups"
"So like dragons and stuff like that?" Blaze said with interest
"Dragons do come here on a regular basis for assistance with things that require a human hand" Varyn nodded "we also have such creatures as behemoths, island turtles and titan sized creatures, we also have a dock for creatures that live in the giant lake that exists next to the research center"
"The I know where I want to go next" Blaze said excitedly, having known about the existence of creatures such as dragons in the universe that she was in but hadn't had the chance to see one up until this point
"In that case please follow me" Varyn acknowlged as he continued to lead Blaze to the next area.
