She hasn't eaten all day—I know because I've inquired with every one of my pack mates I assigned to keep an eye on her—and even now she only picks at her dinner between introductions to other well-wishers. Her lashes lower. "I'm not hungry." Her voice is flat. She'll smile so prettily for everyone else, but she barely looks at me. It makes me fucking crazy. It was better when she was defiant and furious. This version of her, just going through the motions with me, is not acceptable.
The wolf in me growls low, wanting her fed, wanting her happy and sated. My hand lifts with the automatic desire to touch her. I clench it on the table instead.
