DOWNTOWN TOWER LOOKS like a snow globe come to life.
Strings of Christmas lights trace the eaves of every storefront, their reflections shimmering in the wet pavement. Wreaths hang from lampposts, ribbons fluttering in the light wind, and the windows of every storefront are fogged with warmth and golden light. Up ahead, tourists are gathered around a small group of carolers harmonizing as they sing "White Christmas."
Tourists flock to Tower to live out their small-town Americana daydreams.
Being trapped in this small town has been my own personal nightmare the last few years.
But not tonight.
Tonight, I feel the energy that draws people here. I feel the magic.
Walking beside Garrett, I feel like I'm shimmering beneath all the twinkle lights. His every glance makes me feel dizzy with the kind of excitement I haven't felt in... well, ever.
Snow drifts down in lazy spirals, catching in my hair and melting against Garrett's jacket that he draped over me once again.
