"GARRETT HAS A SON? One who's our age?" Maddie is nearly breathless at this revelation. "Have you met him?"
As we sit in her bedroom now, I've been trying to break the revelations to her one at a time. Starting with the fact that he has a son. I'll get to who his son is as I slowly screw up the courage.
He's only left to go back to Big Sky an hour ago, and I already miss him.
While all of us watched a movie earlier, Garrett and I ended up sitting on one end of the small sofa next to each other. His arm was draped around me the entire time as he patiently sat through "White Christmas"—whose viewing is another tradition of Maddie and I share. I can still feel him playing with my hair after I let it down. Him fingering the strands as we sat together, legs pressed together. I don't think he even realized he was consciously doing it.
Now Maddie and I are sitting in her bedroom, our faces encrusted with clay face mask goop that's long-since dried out.
