I DON'T KNOW how long this little "mandatory" vacation from my life is going to last—until Garrett gets bored or the guilt finally catches up with him, I suppose.
I do believe him, that he'll take care of things with the diner. Ensure that Stephanie doesn't run it to the ground or sell it to someone who will turn around and bulldoze it to make way for a chain restaurant.
If I can trust anyone to take care of business, it's Garrett.
But I'm not so sure he knows the contents of his own heart. He's willful and territorial, which obviously comes with being an alpha, but beneath that is a man who genuinely loves his son.
He doesn't love me.
He's attracted to me, clearly feels protective of me, but he doesn't really know me. It's not love. It can't be.
It's an infatuation. It will pass.
But I guess I might as well enjoy it in the meantime.
