The underground tunnels beneath the outskirts of New York had changed.
Before the war… before the bombs… before magic began leaking back into the world… the subway system had simply been rusting steel and forgotten concrete.
Now it felt alive.
Pipes dripped glowing green liquid.
The walls pulsed with faint veins of ooze.
Something deep in the tunnels breathed
Sam's POV
Sam crouched on top of an old subway car.
The metal groaned under his weight.
His sharp eyes scanned the darkness.
"Man… this place smells like a dead swamp."
A faint squelch… squelch… squelch…
Sam grinned.
"There you are."
Three Oozers dragged themselves out of a side tunnel.
They looked worse than the others.
Their bodies were bloated sacks of toxic slime with distorted human skeletons inside them.
One had three arms.
Another had a split jaw leaking green foam.
The last one dragged a half-melted subway worker helmet behind it.
Sam cracked his knuckles.

Sam jumped down from the subway car.
The landing echoed through the tunnel.
The Oozers turned.
Their hollow eye sockets glowed faintly.
Then they screamed.
A wet, distorted howl.
Sam whispered.
"Yeah yeah… I know… dinner time."
The first Oozer lunged.
Sam sidestepped casually.
His fist moved like lightning.
CRACK
The creature's skull collapsed inward.
The body burst like a water balloon.
Green slime splattered across the tunnel walls.

The second Oozer tried to wrap him with a slime tendril.
Sam grabbed the tendril mid-air.
His grip tightened.
His Mutant Strength activated.
With a grunt he swung the entire creature into the subway wall.
BOOM
Concrete cracked.
The Oozer exploded.

Sam wiped slime off his jacket.
"Eight."
The third Oozer instinctively hesitated.
It tried to crawl away.
Sam sighed.
"Aw man… don't make this awkward bro ."
He blurred forward.
A clean kick.
The creature's torso separated.
Green sludge flooded the ground.

Sam stretched his neck.
One more.
The tunnel suddenly went silent.
Too silent.
Even the dripping stopped.
Sam frowned.
"Uh… that's usually not a good sign."
The ground trembled.
A deep gurgling roar echoed from the darkness.
Something massive was moving deeper in the tunnel.
The slime on the floor began flowing toward the noise.
Like rivers being pulled by gravity.
Sam slowly grinned.
"Oh."
"Oh that's interesting."
A gigantic shadow shifted in the dark.
A huge creature slowly crawled into the dim green light.
It looked like dozens of Oozers fused together.
Arms stuck out everywhere.
Faces melted into each other.
A swollen torso the size of a bus dragged across the tracks.
A glowing core pulsed inside its chest.

Chunks of the ceiling fell.
Sam rolled his shoulders.
"Well… guess you're number ten."

The slime surged like a tidal wave.
And Sam launched forward to meet it.
Meanwhile- Deep Underground
Far below the subway system.
In ancient stone tunnels that predated the city itself…
Dozens of pale figures slowly opened their eyes.
Long fangs glinted in the dark..
One of them whispered.
"Blood…"
Another smiled.
"The surface world awakens again with magic ."
A tall vampire stepped forward.
His eyes glowed red.
"Prepare yourselves."
"The age of monsters and magic has returned."
Hundreds of vampire eyes lit up in the darkness.
And above them…
Sam crashed into the Oozer Mass with a thunderous punch.
Elsewhere… On the Surface
Night had fallen over the broken remains of the eastern coast.
The sky looked wrong.
Green auroras twisted slowly above the ruined skyline, the lingering scars of the war still bleeding magic into the atmosphere. Buildings leaned like tired giants. Entire blocks had collapsed into quiet graveyards of concrete.
But something had awakened beneath the world.
And now it was hunting.
From the cracked asphalt of an abandoned street, a man stumbled forward clutching a backpack.
His breath came out in panicked bursts.
Behind him, something moved across the rooftops.
Fast.
Silent.
The man turned a corner into a narrow alley, hoping to lose whatever was chasing him.
He didn't get far.
A shadow dropped from the fire escape above him.
The impact barely made a sound.
Pale skin.
Black hair.
Red eyes glowing softly in the dark.
A vampire.
Not feral like the early ones Sam fought.
This one was calmer.
More aware of itself..
It tilted its head curiously.
"You run as if you know what I am, human."
The man backed against the wall.
"P-please…"
Another shadow landed behind him.
Then another.
Three vampires now.
One crouched like a predator.
The tallest one smiled faintly.
"Relax," it said gently.
"We are merely… reclaiming our place in the world."
The man tried to scream.
The sound never escaped.
Three shapes moved at once.
Then silence returned to the alley.
Above them, perched on a ruined billboard, the suited vampire Sam had fought earlier watched the hunt.
Its damaged jaw had healed.
Its eyes gleamed with interest.
"The altered one grows stronger," it murmured quietly.
"The oozer nest collapsed."
Another vampire beside it asked,
"Should we kill him?"
The suited one shook its head.
"No."
Its smile widened slightly.
"Let him grow."
"Strong prey makes the hunt worthwhile."
The wind howled through the city.
And the vampires spread across the ruins like shadows reclaiming an abandoned kingdom..
Back Underground – Sam's POV
The subway station trembled.
Green slime dripped from the ceiling in slow, heavy drops.
Each splash echoed through the cavernous chamber like a ticking clock.
The Elite Oozer Mass towered before me.
It was worse up close.
Way worse.
The creature's body wasn't just slime.
It was layers.
Rotting flesh shapes suspended in gelatin.
Broken bones drifting like debris in murky water.
Half-formed faces occasionally pressed against the surface before dissolving again.
And in the center,
A glowing core.
Bright green.
Pulsing slowly.
Like a heart.
The thing breathed.
I swallowed.
"Okay… yeah… that's nightmare fuel."
The Oozer Mass shifted forward.
Each movement dragged gallons of sludge across the floor.
The slime hissed where it touched the rails.
Acidic.
The creature's many eyes focused on me.
It made a sound.
Not a roar.
More like thousands of whispers screaming at once.
The pressure hit my chest like a wave.
My instincts screamed.
This thing was stronger than anything I had fought yet.
But my system stayed calm.

I exhaled slowly.
"Of course the weak point is the glowing heart."
Classic boss design.
The Oozer Mass moved.
Not fast.
But heavy.
A massive sludge arm lifted and slammed down.
I jumped back just before impact.
BOOM
The ground exploded where it hit.
Acid splashed outward like rain.
One drop landed on my sleeve.
It burned through instantly.
Okay.
Do not get hit by that.
The Oozer lifted its arm again.
But this time the limb stretched.
Longer.
Longer.
Too long.
It shot across the station like a whip.
I ducked.
The slime tendril smashed through a subway pillar.
Concrete shattered.
The ceiling groaned ominously.
"Alright," I muttered.
"No brute forcing this."
I sprinted forward.
AGI carried me across the slick floor in a blur.
The Oozer reacted immediately.
Three more tendrils erupted from its body.
One caught my leg.
The acid burned through my pants instantly.
Pain shot through my calf.
My Acid Resistance kept it from melting flesh immediately but it still hurt like hell.
"Not ideal!"
I grabbed the tendril and channeled magic into it.
Green light surged through the sludge.
The tendril hardened.
Cracked.
Snapped off.
The Oozer shrieked.
The sound shook the entire station.
Chunks of slime dropped from its body and reformed into smaller Oozers.
Four smaller ones crawled toward me.
I smashed through them quickly.
Punch.
Kick.
Arcane burst.
Slime fragments splattered everywhere.

But the Elite Oozer didn't care.
Its core pulsed brighter.
The entire station floor began filling with sludge.
The monster was expanding.
Trying to drown me in its body.
"Yeah, that's definitely a boss mechanic."
I scanned the room.
Collapsed subway cars.
Loose electrical lines.
Rusting metal beams.
Then I saw it.
The third rail.
Still active.
I sprinted toward the track.
The Oozer roared and launched its entire upper body at me.
The station shook violently.
I slid under the creature's attack and grabbed a loose steel beam.
With a grunt I jammed it straight through the glowing core.
For half a second,
Nothing happened.
Then the beam touched the electrified rail.
The current surged.
A blinding explosion of light filled the station.
Electricity ripped through the oozer's body like lightning through water.
The creature convulsed violently.
Its screams became deafening.
The sludge hardened.
Cracked.
Then began to shatter.
I dove behind a subway car as the entire monster exploded into burning green fragments.
The shockwave blasted across the station.
Silence followed.
Then the system chimed.
