As the water began to lose its warmth, Damien lifted Eloise from the basin and carried her back to their bed.
Water trailed from their bodies, leaving a damp path across the floor as they moved, but neither of them paid it any attention. They were far too occupied with each other's mouths.
Damien set Eloise down on the bed and propped himself above her, careful to keep his weight from pressing down on her. He looked down at her at the necklace still resting against her skin, at the damp strands of hair clinging to her face and framing it.
He brushed the strands from her eyes, wanting to see them clearly.
Then he lowered his head and kissed her before the warmth between them could slip away.
Eloise welcomed it without hesitation, her hands going straight to his hair and drawing him down towards her.
