Chapter 7 - STILL CONCEALING

Meguna looked at Rias and paused for a moment, considering how much he should reveal. 'Should I reveal everything or just give them a few crumbs?' A faint smirk slowly formed on his lips as the thought settled.

"How about I'll tell you about some of my other abilities ones that come along with my Sacred Gear," Meguna replied, his tone calm yet slightly amused.

"Other abilities that come with the gear?" Rias murmured, clearly intrigued as she processed his words.

"Yes," Meguna said simply. "It's called Shrine, and it allows me to—" Without finishing his sentence, he casually sent out a slash. In an instant, the cup placed in front of him split into two uneven pieces " send slashes that can reach any specific distance I choose," he continued, as if what he had just done was nothing unusual. "The strength and range depend on how serious I am."

Before anyone could respond, he moved again. Meguna lightly touched the surface of the table between him and Rias. For a split second, nothing happened. Then the section he touched crumbled into fine powder, as if it had been shredded into countless microscopic cuts " and it also allows me to disintegrate anything I touch," he added calmly, "as long as I make contact."

Silence filled the room Rias and her peerage stared at the result of his demonstration, the weight of what they had just witnessed settling in.

Rias's eyes widened slightly, a rare crack in her composed demeanor. 'Incredible this ability is not only powerful it's terrifying.'

Koneko's expression remained mostly unchanged, but her thoughts drifted back to their earlier encounter. 'So, he could have killed me back then.' Her hand instinctively moved toward her neck, recalling the faint slash she had received.

Akeno let out a soft, amused hum, her usual teasing smile still present, though there was a sharper edge of interest behind it now. "Ara, ara I knew you were dangerous, but not to this extent," she said lightly.

Kiba, though just as surprised as the others spoke, his tone composed but clearly more serious than before. "You mentioned that these are only additional abilities tied to your Sacred Gear," he said. "That makes me even more curious what exactly does your Gear even do?"

Rias straightened slightly, regaining her composure before speaking. "As my knight said," she added, her gaze fixed on Meguna, "it seems you have far more than what you've revealed so far."

Meguna simply waved his hand dismissively, turning his face slightly away from them, though the faint smile on his lips remained visible. "That's enough for today," he said casually. "You'll see my Sacred Gear sooner or later if I feel like it."

With that, he stood up from his seat. "The tea and desserts were good," he added as he stretched slightly. "I might start coming here more often just for that."

Rias, though not entirely satisfied with the amount of information Meguna had revealed about himself, maintained her composure and responded with a polite smile. "Thank you for coming, Fushi-san," she said, her tone calm and courteous. "If you decide to visit more often in the future, I'll make sure to prepare snacks and desserts that suit your preferences."

"Ara, ara Fushi-san, you're quite cold, aren't you?" Akeno added, her voice soft yet teasing. "You didn't even give me a proper response. Is Rias the only woman to your liking?" Her words were phrased as if she were slightly hurt, but her playful expression made it clear she was simply provoking a reaction.

Meguna's showed no real reaction to her remark as his gaze barely shifted toward her. Having no interest in engaging further, he replied in a calm, detached tone "You're not the boss."

Without giving them another glance, he turned and walked out of the clubroom, leaving the door to close behind him.

For a moment, silence filled the room. Akeno was the first to speak after his departure, her tone more thoughtful now, though her faint smile remained. "Kaichou, considering how mysterious and strong he is, I'm actually quite relieved that we're not against him," she said. "The fact that he's now our ally works in our favor."

Rias didn't respond instead, she quietly stood from her seat and made her way toward the window, her movements slow and composed as her gaze followed Meguna's retreating figure in the distance.

Her expression softened slightly as her thoughts settled on him. 'Meguna Fushi… now that you're on my side, I do feel a bit more at ease. But what exactly are you still hiding? I'm curious just how much more you will reveal about yourself in the future?'

----

Meguna walked calmly along the path, his hands resting in his pockets as his thoughts drifted. 'That wasn't so bad, he mused. At first, I thought she would try to rope me into her little peerage. A deal like that… wasn't something I expected.'

A faint smirk touched his lips as he continued forward. 'In exchange for my assistance in situations where she's pushed into difficult battles, she'll use her position as the heir of the Gremory clan to make my life easier.'

As he walked along the road, the sky slowly shifted from its usual dark hue to a strange shade of purple, casting an unnatural glow over the surroundings.

Meguna glanced up briefly, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in the change.

"Mmmmh, looks like someone's about to die," he muttered under his breath,

"Not that it matters, he'll survive anyway." Without giving it any further thought, Meguna continued walking straight toward his home.

----

The next day, as Meguna walked toward the school gates, the morning atmosphere remained calm, filled with the quiet chatter of students arriving for class.

Just as he stepped onto the main path leading into the academy, a familiar voice called out to him. "Fushi-san."

Meguna glanced to the side and saw Rias approaching him, her crimson hair catching the morning light as she walked with her usual composed elegance. Walking a step behind her was Issei, who looked normal for once, though there was still a hint of curiosity in his expression as he glanced between the two.

Their presence alone was enough to draw attention. Students nearby began to slow down, their conversations gradually fading as their focus shifted toward the scene.

"Isn't that Rias-senpai?"

"She's talking to the new guy again…"

"They look good together…"

"Don't tell me they are actually dating?"

Meanwhile, the boys were already watching with growing suspicion.

"Why is she talking to him again?"

Rias stepped closer to Meguna, her expression calm as ever. "Good morning, Fushi-san" she said naturally.

Meguna gave a brief glance in her direction but didn't respond immediately.

Rias then reached out and gently held onto his arm. "Let's walk together, Fushi-san," she said, her tone light and composed.

Around them, the reaction spread like wildfire. "Damn you, Fushi-san…!" one of the boys shouted dramatically, clutching his chest.

"You didn't even spare our queen…!" another cried, tears streaming down his face.

"Why him?!"

"This is injustice!"

The boys spiraled into exaggerated misery, while the girls leaned in closer, their excitement growing.

"I knew it!"

"They have to be dating!"

"Look at how naturally she's holding his arm!"

Meguna pulled his arm back without hesitation, breaking her grip. "Can you not casually touch me?" he said flatly.

Rias didn't seem bothered at all instead, she smiled faintly, clearly entertained by both his reaction and the chaos around them. "Come on, Fushi-san," she replied smoothly. "You know I'm just trying to strengthen our relationship."

"Relationship?!"

The word echoed instantly among the surrounding students.

"Tch, are you trying to make them get the wrong idea?" meguna said, his voice low and slightly annoyed.

Rias turned her gaze toward him, her smile widening just a little, a playful glint appearing in her eyes. "Maybe."

----

Inside the student council office, Rias and Sona sat across from each other, a chessboard placed between them. The game had already progressed well into the mid-stage.

Sona moved first, her fingers picking up a piece before placing it down "So, you managed to get him to agree to a deal with you," she said, her tone calm, though there was a clear note of curiosity beneath it.

Rias she studied the board for a brief moment before making her move countering Sona's play. "Yes," she replied "I presented him with an offer that even he couldn't easily refuse. In fact, his rejection of your invitation was what led me to approach things differently."

Sona adjusted her gaze toward the board, considering Rias's words carefully. "I see," she said, before moving her bishop forward and capturing one of Rias's rooks. "But are you certain he won't become a problem for us devils? After all, he isn't affiliated with any faction." Her tone remained neutral, but the concern behind the question was clear.

"I don't think that will be an issue," she answered calmly, moving her knight into position and placing Sona's king in check. "Meguna doesn't strike me as someone who causes unnecessary trouble. And more importantly, we are in an agreement."

Sona observed the board in silence for a moment, her eyes narrowing slightly as she evaluated the position. "Well," she said after a brief pause, "I suppose I can only hope your judgment is correct."

The game continued for a few more moves, both sides repeating positions, neither gaining a decisive advantage. Eventually, Sona leaned back slightly. "It seems we've reached a draw," she stated.
