Chapter 16 - Good Person?

It was morning, and Meguna was still feeling sleepy from the events of the previous day. The lack of sleep was beginning to catch up with him, and even the short walk from his room to the front door felt more tiring than usual.

He grabbed his bag and was about to leave the house when his mother called out to him from behind. "Meguna, did you stay up late yesterday?" his mother asked, looking at him with slight concern after noticing how drowsy he appeared.

Meguna turned his head toward her, his expression remaining mostly unchanged despite the exhaustion he was feeling. "If you're not feeling well, you should just stay at home," his mother advised, clearly unconvinced that he was in any condition to spend the day at school.

"It's not a big deal, Mom. It's just three hours of sleep. I can recover it during class." He casually waved his hand as if the lack of sleep wasn't worth worrying about, then opened the door and stepped outside.

His mother could only watch him leave, still looking slightly concerned as he made his way down the path toward the gate.

As Meguna stepped outside, however, he immediately noticed two familiar figures waiting near the entrance. It was Issei and Asia were standing there together.

Meguna stopped and looked at the two of them, his expression becoming slightly irritated despite the fact that he wasn't particularly bothered by their presence. "What are you guys doing here?"

"Well..." Issei began, scratching the back of his head. "Asia wanted to thank the person who saved her last night, so I brought her over here."

Asia stood beside him, looking somewhat nervous about approaching Meguna. She took a small step forward, her cheeks lightly tinted red as she held both hands together in front of herself.

"Um... Fushi-san." Meguna looked toward her.

Asia lowered her head slightly before gathering enough courage to speak. "Thank you for saving me yesterday. When I learned that it had been you who came to the church, I couldn't just leave it without saying anything. So... thank you."

She raised her head again, a small smile appearing on her face. "I'm now a devil like Issei-san and the others."

Meguna clicked his tongue quietly. "I didn't come there to save you. I just wanted to see what was going on, and you happened to be involved in it." His explanation was delivered as though he were simply correcting a misunderstanding rather than rejecting her gratitude.

Asia, however, didn't seem bothered by his response. She looked at him with a bright smile. "Either way, you saved me, so that doesn't really change anything. Nonetheless, you're a good person in my eyes."

Meguna's expression immediately became slightly more annoyed. 'Did this brat not see the bodies of the people I've killed? What the hell do you mean, a good person?' He glanced at Asia from the corner of his eye. 'That label doesn't fit me at all. I'm literally like the King of Curses.'

The thought irritated him more than he expected. He didn't consider himself a good person, but he didn't consider himself evil either. He simply acted according to his own interests and did whatever he felt like doing.

Meguna then looked away from her and started walking toward school. Issei and Asia exchanged a quick glance before hurrying after him. "Hey, Fushi-san wait up, let's walk together" Issei said as he caught up with Meguna.

Meguna continued walking without looking at him. "Do whatever you want."

Issei smiled at the response, apparently taking it as permission to continue walking alongside him.

Asia followed on the other side, still looking considerably more cheerful than she had when they first met. "Fushi-san, I'm kind of excited about my first day at school," she said. "I hope I can make new friends like you." Meguna glanced toward her briefly before continuing down the road.

-----

By the time they arrived at the school, Meguna was feeling even more tired than he had when he left home. The short walk hadn't helped at all. If anything, the lack of sleep was becoming more noticeable with every passing minute.

He rubbed the side of his head and let out a quiet sigh. "It feels like I've gotten more dizzy." His voice was low, and he briefly wondered whether staying home might actually have been the better choice. Still, turning around now seemed like more effort than simply continuing toward the classroom.

As they entered the academy grounds, several students immediately noticed Meguna walking alongside Issei and a blonde girl they didn't recognize.

Their gazes followed the three of them as they made their way through the courtyard.

"That girl... is she a friend of Fushi-san?"

"Seems like it."

"But wasn't he with Rias?"

"Yeah, but it was never confirmed, though."

A few more students began whispering among themselves, their curiosity growing as they watched the unusual group.

"More importantly, why's Hyoudou, the pervert, walking with Fushi-san?"

"Don't tell me he corrupted our Ice Emperor?"

The whispers mostly came from the girls nearby, who were clearly more interested in figuring out why Meguna was suddenly walking around with Issei and an unfamiliar girl.

Meguna heard some of them, but he had absolutely no interest in explaining himself. He wasn't in the mood for rumors or unnecessary attention. Without saying anything, he simply continued walking ahead.

"Fushi-san, wait for—" issei didn't get to finish as hand suddenly came down on the back of his head.

Thud!

"Ow!"

Issei stumbled forward and immediately grabbed the back of his head. He turned around with an irritated expression, only to see his friend Matsuda standing there. Motohama was nearby as well, looking just as suspicious.

"How could you betray your friends and join Fushi-san's faction?" Matsuda demanded dramatically.

Issei stared at him in confusion. "What are you talking about? I'm still me!"

"Oh, yeah?" Matsuda narrowed his eyes as though he had just discovered some terrible betrayal. "Then what's this?" He pointed dramatically toward Asia.

His expression immediately shifted into exaggerated sorrow, and he even forced a few fake tears into his eyes. "I thought we were in this together, Issei! So why were you walking around with such a cute girl?" Asia blinked in surprise at the sudden attention.

Matsuda continued. "Not only that, but you seemed to be getting closer to Fushi-san too!"

Motohama adjusted his glasses and nodded seriously. "Indeed. Your behavior has changed considerably."

Issei looked between the two of them. "You're both seriously making a big deal out of nothing!"

Matsuda ignored him. "This is exactly what someone who has betrayed his friends would say."

"I didn't betray anyone!" Their argument continued behind them as Meguna kept walking, making no attempt to get involved.

Asia followed after him while Issei remained caught between his two friends.

The morning had barely begun, and Meguna was already tired enough to regret coming to school.

Reaching the classroom, Meguna quickly slumped over his desk with both arms resting on it. The noise of the classroom continued around him, but he paid little attention to it.

-----

The clubroom was relatively quiet that afternoon. Rias sat behind her desk while Sona occupied the chair across from her, the two of them having a private conversation away from the rest of their respective peerages.

"So..." Sona began, adjusting her glasses slightly. "It seems like you've handled the matter concerning the church rather smoothly."

Rias leaned back in her chair and considered Sona's words for a moment before answering. "Well..." she said slowly. "Most of it was actually handled by Fushi-san."

Sona's expression became slightly more attentive. "Fushi-san?"

"Yes. He's the one who dealt with most of the pests inside the church." Rias paused before adding with a small smile, "To be honest, I'm a little disappointed."

Sona raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

"I was hoping I'd get to see more of what he's capable of." Rias rested one hand against her cheek. "I barely got the chance to see him do anything during the whole incident. He simply appeared, dealt with the situation, and left." Her smile faded slightly as she continued. "But I'm also disappointed in myself."

Sona looked at her more carefully. "Yourself?"

Rias nodded "What Fushi-san accomplished on his own is something I'm still far from being capable of doing at the moment." There was no jealousy in her voice. If anything, she sounded genuinely impressed by what Meguna had demonstrated.

"I see," Sona replied thoughtfully. She remained quiet for a moment before continuing. "Then, Rias... have you figured out anything about Fushi-san's Sacred Gear? Or have you at least seen what it does?"

Rias's expression became more serious.

"I don't think I have." She paused, thinking back to everything she had witnessed since meeting Meguna. "But I've seen some of the abilities he possesses. Whatever they are, they're extremely dangerous and lethal." Rias folded her arms. "That's why I've said it before. It's a good thing he's on our side."

"For now." Sona's reply came immediately after Rias finished speaking.

Rias was slightly caught off guard by how quickly Sona had responded. "Sona, you don't need to worry so much about it," she said. "Fushi-san has been professional about our deal. He's kept his word, and I have no reason to believe he's planning to break it."

Sona closed her eyes and let out a quiet sigh. "If you say so..."

Rias gave her a small smile before Sona changed the subject. "Anyway, what are you planning to do about the engagement?"

Rias's expression immediately became more complicated. "I know for a fact that you don't want to marry that scum," Sona continued. "But even if you were to challenge Riser, the odds of you winning are very slim, to be honest."

Rias lowered her gaze toward the desk.

She rested her chin against the back of her palm, thinking about the situation. The engagement was something she had tried not to think about too much, but avoiding it wouldn't make it disappear.

Sona watched her quietly for a moment before asking another question. "Are you planning to get Fushi-san involved in it?"

Rias's eyes shifted toward her. Sona's expression was completely serious now. "Think carefully about this, Rias. Fushi-san is an anomaly unlike anything we've ever seen." She paused before continuing. "You told me yourself that he isn't a human, an angel, or a devil. We don't even know exactly what he is."

Rias remained silent. "If you were to make him reveal his existence to the Underworld, the devils faction and the angels faction would eventually take notice of him," Sona explained. "And once they realize what kind of existence they're dealing with, they'll probably make their move." Her tone became more concerned. "Not necessarily because they want to attack him, but because they're afraid of what they don't understand. Someone like Fushi-san could become a problem simply because nobody knows what he's capable of."

Rias slowly lowered her hand from her face. "I know, Sona." She looked down at the desk again. "That's exactly why I'm conflicted about it." Her voice was quieter than before. "I don't want Fushi-san to become a target for the devils faction nor the angels faction simply because they fear him or consider him an anomaly." Rias paused. "I know he isn't the type to worry about something like that. If anything, he'd probably find their attempts to control him more annoying than threatening."

A faint smile appeared on her face before disappearing again. "But that doesn't mean I want to drag him into my problems."

Sona nodded slightly. "Then there's still Riser."

Rias's expression hardened. "Exactly." She looked toward Sona. "I don't want Fushi-san to be targeted because of me, but I also don't want to marry Riser Phenex."

Sona remained silent for a moment, allowing Rias to think. Then she asked, "So, what are you going to do?"

Rias's gaze remained fixed ahead. She had already considered several possibilities, but most of them came with complications of their own.

Finally, she spoke. "There's only one way to resolve this without causing any unnecessary conflicts." Her tone was serious, and there was a sense of certainty behind her words.

Sona stared at her for a moment. Then she seemed to understand exactly what Rias was planning. Her eyebrow slowly rose. "Oh."

-----

Meguna was now at home, finally ready to go to sleep. Although he had spent most of the day lazing through his classes, the exhaustion from the previous few days had finally caught up with him.

For the past few nights, he had been staying awake late, either wandering around Kuoh after dark or simply sitting in his room and reading whatever trashy novels he happened to find. What had started as something to pass the time had gradually become a habit, and his increasingly irregular sleeping schedule was beginning to show.

Tonight, however, he had no intention of doing that. "I'll sleep early today." Meguna muttered as he settled onto his bed

He pulled the blanket over himself and closed his eyes. As Meguna was beginning to drift to sleep, Rias suddenly appeared inside his room falling on top of him.

"Fushi-san, please! I want you to take my virginity there's no time to explain. Please, quickly!" For a moment, he simply looked at Rias. Then slowly grabbed Rias's face with both hands.

Rias's expression softened. "Fushi-san..." she said softly, as she closed her eyes believing that he had agreed to it.

The next moment, Meguna abruptly threw her toward the side. (Gif)

[A/N: Just some clarification meguna doesn't dislike asia. He just finds it annoying that someone would still call him a good person even after everything they've seen or heard him do. I felt like someone would ask that so i answer it beforehand. Anyways give your thoughts on this chapter.]
