Authors POV
The silence in the private lounge was suffocating, a thick, cloying blanket that smelled of iron and expensive cologne.
When the heavy doors to the private lounge swung shut, the "Executioner" finally vanished.
Jay-jay didn't look cold anymore. The obsidian void in her eyes cracked, then shattered. Her knees buckled as she reached the center of the room, but before she could hit the floor, she threw herself at Keifer.
She buried her face in the crook of his neck, her bloody fingers clutching his jacket with a desperate, white-knuckled grip.
"Keifer... the lab... the lights... they didn't just watch me," she choked out, her voice barely a thread of sound. "They changed me."
He tightened his grip, his chin resting on the top of her matted, tangled hair.
Keifer's POV
The moment her weight hit my chest, the ice in my own heart melted into a searing, protective rage. This wasn't the Mariano Matriarch.
This was my Jay. She was shaking so violently I could feel her heartbeat thrumming against my ribs—erratic, terrified, and broken.
The smell of copper from her clothes was overwhelming, but I didn't care. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her into the marrow of my bones, my hand instinctively finding the back of her head to caress her matted hair.
"Shh, Jay. I'm here. I've got you," I whispered, my voice thick. "I won't let them touch you again. I swear it."
"You're safe, Jay. I swear on my life, I will burn this university to the ground before they use you as a subject again," I whispered, my voice vibrating with a cold, absolute promise. "They thought they were breeding a weapon, but all they did was sign their own death warrants. I will dismantle their world brick by bloody brick."
Percy moved in closer, his usual smirk replaced by a look of haunted loyalty. He wrapped his arms around the both of us, his presence a silent wall. Jay grabbed his sleeve, crying like a child who had finally realized the monsters under the bed were real—and that she was the only one who had the power to kill them.
I felt her go limp as exhaustion finally won. Her breathing leveled out, deep and ragged, as she drifted into a trauma-induced sleep. I looked at her pale, tear-streaked face and felt a dark, ancient protective instinct take over. "Sleep, my Princess," I whispered " I will handle the rest."
Ace's POV
I stood by the window, the moonlight casting long, jagged shadows across the floor. My shoulder was screaming, but the real agony was the image of Jay-jay in that office—the way she had looked at Madam Violet. That wasn't the girl I wanted to protect. That was a ghost with a knife.
Raze moved in the shadows behind me, his leather jacket creaking. "This wasn't the plan, Ace. We were supposed to reveal their identities, shift the power, and stabilize the school. We didn't plan for a massacre."
"Plans change when people start treating my friends like lab rats," I snapped, my eyes fixed on the distant silhouette of the industrial sector.
"Ace, listen to me," Raze stepped forward, his face grim. "Something happened in that warehouse laboratory in those final minutes. The Board's data is wiped. The servers are literally melted from the inside. Whatever 'experiment' they were running on Jay-jay... it's gone dark. Only she knows the truth of what they triggered in her."
I turned to him, my jaw tight. "I don't care if she's a trillionaire, an experiment, or a monster. She is mine to protect. I will stand between her and the truth until the world stops spinning. If the 'truth' is what's turning her into that cold-blooded killer, then I'll bury the truth along with anyone who tries to dig it up."
Zein's POV
I sat on the floor of the lounge, my back against the door. I was the guard, the wall, the sister. I watched Keifer and Percy hold Jay, and I felt a hollow ache in my chest.
I remembered the warehouse . I remembered the way Jay-jay had moved—the speed, the lack of mercy. It wasn't just adrenaline. It was like a switch had been flipped.
I looked at my hands, still shaking. We had entered this school thinking we were the ones in control, that our secrets were our shields.
But the secret of the Mariano experiment was bigger than any of us.
"You're not losing yourself, Jay," I whispered to the quiet room. "I won't let you. Even if I have to fight the authorities, the Supremo, and your own bloodline, I'll bring you back to the girl who shared her crackers. I don't care what they did to you in that lab. You're still my Jay-jay."
But as I looked at the trail of blood still visible under the door, I knew the truth. The girl who entered Hell University was gone. And the woman who replaced her was someone the world wasn't ready to meet.
Author's POV
While the inner circle guarded the sleeping heir, the rest of Hell University was in chaos. In the depths of the administrative wing, Madam Violet sat in her darkened office, her hand trembling as she reached for a secure, encrypted satellite phone.
The line hissed with static before a deep, distorted voice picked up.
"The subject has awakened," Violet whispered, her eyes darting to the door Jay-jay had kicked off its hinges. "She knows about the experiment. She knows about her mother. She's... she's dangerous."
"We expected a reaction," the voice on the other end replied, cold and devoid of humanity. "But we did not expect her to bypass the psychological inhibitors so quickly. The Mariano blood is more volatile than we predicted."
"She threatened me," Violet hissed, her composure finally shattering. "She held a knife to my face! She's going to ruin everything!"
"No," the voice said. "She is finally becoming what she was meant to be. Let the Watsons and the Supremo play their games of protection. They are merely guarding the weapon until we are ready to fire it. Watch her. If she shows signs of the 'Allen' personality again... signal us. We will initiate Phase Two."
Violet hung up, the silence of the office feeling like a tomb. She looked at the bloodstain on her desk and realized that in her attempt to play god, she had invited a demon into her house.
