When Steelbeard revealed what was happening to the kingdom and the threat they were truly facing, the atmosphere around the mountain training grounds grew heavy with tension.
The Pandemonium Legion was already on the move.
Steelbeard's warning lingered in the cold air as firelight flickered across their grim expressions fate..of the kingdom no longer felt distant..it felt close enough to breathe.
Far beyond the capital walls, beyond the valleys and shattered watchtowers left behind by conflict, the earth itself trembled beneath thousands of marching feet.
The skies darkened with trails of crimson smoke while war banners rose across the horizon like an endless tide swallowing the land whole.
And at the center of that advancing storm the Pandemonium Legion began its march.
While kingdoms prepared themselves in fear, the main stronghold of the Pandemonium Legion was already alive with movement.
Soldiers stood in perfect formation across the massive fortress grounds, some marched endlessly beneath the cold night sky while others trained with brutal intensity, their weapons crashing together with enough force to shake the stone beneath them.
The entire camp moved with frightening discipline.
But deep within the heavily guarded lower sectors of the fortress, hidden behind reinforced steel doors and layers of magical security, something far worse was taking place.
Rows of Project X soldiers stood motionless inside massive containment tubes, thick cables and metallic injectors connected directly into their backs, pumping a glowing blue liquid into their bodies, the substance flowed like poison through their veins.
Neon-blue light pulsed beneath their skin violently as their muscles twitched unnaturally from the pressure of the enhancement.
Only five Project X units remained active within the chamber and according to the man overseeing the operation that was already enough.
A tall figure dressed in dark military attire slowly walked past the containment tubes, observing each enhanced soldier carefully while the sound of machinery echoed throughout the chamber.
Behind him, workers carefully transferred the remaining containers of the glowing liquid toward another secured area known only as Section A.
Two elite soldiers waited there to undergo the same enhancement process but even the Pandemonium Legion understood the limits of what they possessed.
The liquid was extremely rare, difficult to produce, dangerously unstable and most importantly valuable beyond measure.
A large portion of their supply had already been destroyed during the Four Pillars' assault on the temporary outpost.
That loss had slowed production considerably which meant every remaining drop would now be used carefully.
For war...
The man dressed in dark military attire was a Vice Commander Officer, one of the highest-ranking officials beneath the Legion Commanders themselves, his role was to oversee battlefield operations directly and execute military strategies in real time whenever the Pandemonium Legion advanced into war.
He stood silently in front of the containment tubes, watching the glowing blue liquid continue flowing into the bodies of the Project X units chamber hummed with machinery and unstable magical energy.
Then the heavy steel doors behind him slowly opened a presence entered the room, atmosphere immediately shifted, footsteps echoed across the metal floor with calm authority as another figure walked inside, his long military coat dragging slightly behind him.
Unlike the Vice Commander, this man carried the overwhelming pressure of someone far above ordinary soldiers.
A Legion Commander.
The Vice Commander immediately straightened himself before giving a sharp salute toward the approaching officer.
The commander's cold eyes swept across the chamber before stopping on the containment tubes.
"Are they ready for deployment?" he asked in a cold, emotionless tone.
The Vice Commander lowered his salute before responding immediately.
"Yes, sir, they are ready for battle, the synchronization percentage has already reached eighty-seven percent, at this rate, the Project X units should awaken within ten minutes for deployment."
The Legion Commander remained silent for a moment, carefully observing the glowing soldiers inside the tubes.
Blue veins pulsed violently beneath their skin as the enhancement liquid continued forcing power into their bodies.
Then the commander spoke again.
"…And the monster?" he asked calmly. "Is it still awake inside its cell?"
The Vice Commander's expression tightened slightly already understood what the commander meant.
At section B.
The containment sector, far below the fortress, deep within the heavily reinforced underground chambers, massive steel walls surrounded a gigantic containment cell built specifically to imprison a single creature.
And inside something hissed violently.
A deep, distorted growl echoed throughout the dark chamber, shaking the metal walls around it.
Chains rattled endlessly.
Inside the darkness, two glowing red eyes slowly opened then four more open..
Sharp black fangs revealed themselves through the shadows as the creature let out another furious hiss, clawing against the containment walls hard enough to leave dents in the reinforced metal itself.
Whatever was imprisoned inside Section B it was awake and alive.
Then suddenly...rapid footsteps echoed through the metal hallway outside the chamber.
A figure came running toward the reinforced steel doors before pushing them open with urgency.
It was a lower-ranking soldier, one of the standard combat units of the Pandemonium Legion though far beneath the authority of commanders, he still carried enough discipline and training to remain composed under pressure.
The moment he entered the chamber, he immediately straightened himself and gave a sharp salute toward the two higher-ranking officers.
Legion Commander slowly turned his head toward the soldier while the Vice Commander narrowed his eyes slightly, clearly irritated by the interruption.
The lower soldier remained frozen in place.
Neither commander returned the salute.
Instead, the Legion Commander simply raised two fingers slightly, signaling the soldier to lower his hand and speak.
The soldier obeyed instantly.
"Sir," he began carefully, trying not to let nervousness enter his voice, "Supreme Ruler Voidnoire has called for an emergency meeting at the main council chamber."
The atmosphere inside the room shifted immediately, even the Vice Commander's expression hardened at the mention of that name.
Voidnoire, the Supreme Ruler of the Pandemonium Legion.
The one standing above every commander, officer, and soldier within the organization itself.
The Legion Commander remained silent for a brief moment before turning away from the containment tubes, without another word, he began walking toward the chamber exit.
The Vice Commander followed behind him immediately.
Neither of them spoke.
The heavy sound of their boots echoed throughout the metallic hallway as they headed deeper into the fortress toward the meeting chamber where the emergency gathering was about to begin.
