Chapter 22 - Ch 22- I'm So Handsome

Loki Familia.

"Loki, you're back."

Seeing Loki push the door open and walk in, Finn, who was handling official business, temporarily stopped what he was doing.

"What is that?"

"The box used to draw the content of the War Game."

Loki placed the box in her hand onto the desk.

"Did something happen?"

A hint of curiosity appeared on Finn's face.

"Freya went to the meeting too, and she even volunteered to help draw the War Game content."

Loki opened the box and dumped all the slips inside onto the desk.

"Arena Battle, Siege Warfare, Hide-and-Seek, Team Cooperation, Hundred-Man Battle, Battle Royale... It seems there are no issues with the game content."

Finn realized what Loki was doing and picked up the paper box from the desk to examine it.

"Loki, there's a groove on the bottom of this box."

"Let me see."

Loki leaned over and touched it.

The groove at the bottom of the paper box was not large, perfectly aligning with the lines on the box's bottom.

If one didn't look carefully, an ordinary person would hardly notice the bottom of the box and that there was such a mechanism.

Loki found a slip of paper and inserted it; the slip slid smoothly into the groove.

She shook the box slightly; the slip in the groove didn't move at all, completely unaffected.

"I knew it. I said that Freya wouldn't look for trouble for no reason."

"That Goddess of Beauty is actually participating personally? That's quite rare."

Finn stroked his chin thoughtfully: "So, what game was ultimately chosen?"

"Capture the Flag Game."

"Capture the Flag Game... I remember that's a game where flags are placed throughout the city, and the side with more flags at the end wins, right?"

Judging by the nature of the game, it was a game where the more people, the better for winning.

And the two Familias participating in this War Game were the Soma Familia and the Hestia Familia.

The former was an established Familia in Orario; in terms of numbers alone, they were no less than the Loki Familia.

The latter was a newly established Familia; Finn wasn't very clear about their exact status, only hearing Loki mention it once or twice during casual chats.

"Loki, what is the strength of the Hestia Familia? Do they have any High-Tier Adventurers inside?"

"Only one LV1."

"?"

Finn's train of thought abruptly stopped.

Looking at the Goddess holding up a single finger in front of him, a hint of helplessness appeared on his face.

"Don't joke around at a time like this."

"I'm not joking. That's what Hestia, that Shorty, told me herself."

"Wait! This isn't right!"

It was only at this moment that Finn realized how absurd this War Game was.

"With such a huge disparity in strength, why would the Hestia Familia agree to participate in the War Game?"

"You've got it backwards. The one who proactively applied for the War Game was Hestia. The Soma Familia is the one being dragged into this."

"..."

Finn fell silent.

He could understand every word Loki said, but strung together, it sounded like gibberish.

How could these words be arranged like that?

Finn didn't understand, but he was greatly shocked.

"Now you should understand why I didn't point out that Freya was up to something when I noticed it."

Loki shrugged, stuffed all the slips back into the box, and then tossed the box into the trash can.

On one side was a newly formed Familia with only one LV1 member.

On the other side was an old Familia with decades of history, possessing two LV2s and a large number of LV1s.

The strength gap between the two sides was immense; it made no difference what game they drew in the end.

Looking only at the surface strength, the Hestia Familia's win rate was less than 1%.

However...

"Finn, do you know what Hestia told me at the Denatus just now?"

"Stop being mysterious."

"Hestia told me that she initiated the War Game with absolute certainty of victory."

"Perhaps Freya's intervention this time is related to the trump card held by that Shorty, Hestia."

"That sounds quite interesting."

Finn's curiosity was piqued.

Because neither participating side had any top-tier fighters, he hadn't been very interested in this War Game initially.

But now, after hearing Loki's words, he suddenly started looking forward to this War Game.

...Under the abandoned old church.

"I'm sorry, Cain."

Hestia recounted what had happened at the Denatus not long ago.

"Our luck was a bit poor; we couldn't draw a game that would let you display your abilities better."

"It doesn't matter; the result will be the same."

Cain glanced at his newly updated blessing, then tossed it into the nearby brazier to burn.

"Besides, it might not be bad luck."

"Not bad luck?"

Hestia paused: "Do you mean... Freya tampered with it?"

"Yes, that's possible."

"Why? I shouldn't have offended her, right?"

"Whether you offended her or not isn't important. What's important is what she's thinking."

Cain poured hair gel into his hand and casually smoothed it upwards, giving himself a handsome hairstyle.

"Look, I'm this handsome. It's only reasonable that Freya gets fixated on me, right?"

"Ah, this..."

Hestia was momentarily speechless.

Although Cain's statement was a bit narcissistic, theoretically, there really was such a possibility

As the number one Goddess of Battle Royale, Freya had eaten chicken until her hands were sore in the upper realm. Even a shut-in Goddess like Hestia had heard of her name.

If Freya noticed Cain, the probability of her being attracted to him couldn't be said to be zero; it could only be said to be very high.

"Cain, you absolutely must not be fooled by that bad woman Freya!"

"Although that woman has a beautiful face, her conduct is considered quite terrible."

"If you join the Freya Familia, your life will be ruined!"

"Is that so? Then we need to work hard."

Seeing Hestia deliberately put on a serious expression to scare him, Cain's lips curled up into a light laugh.

"As long as we win the War Game, whatever conspiracy Freya has won't matter."

"That's right! We must win!"

Hestia rallied her spirits and clenched her fist.

To protect Cain, she absolutely had to defeat the Soma Familia and foil Freya's conspiracy!

....

..."Achoo!"

"Syr, did you catch a cold?"

Ryuu looked doubtfully at her friend beside her.

"I don't think so. I'm quite healthy."

"Maybe someone is badmouthing me behind my back."

Syr showed a faint smile.

She had tampered with the drawing earlier today, and if nothing unexpected happened, Loki had already discovered it.

The thought of the other party racking their brains but failing to figure out why she did it made her want to laugh.

"Ryuu, who do you think will win the War Game between the Soma Familia and the Hestia Familia?"

"Fifty-fifty, maybe."

Ryuu thought for a moment.

After a brief period of adjustment, she had accepted the fact that she was fighting evenly with an LV1.

If judging purely by direct combat, none of the Soma Familia members would be Cain's match.

But what was regrettable was that luck was not on the Hestia Familia's side.

The Capture the Flag Game tested the overall strength of the Familia.

Even if Cain held the advantage in high-end combat power, he was still only one person.

Once the Soma Familia members spread out, his chance of winning would decrease significantly.

"Syr, who do you think will win?"

"I'm just an ordinary person; I can't answer such a professional question."

Syr waved her hand: "For me, as long as the War Game is exciting enough, that's all that matters."

Holding the groceries they had just bought, Ryuu and Syr started their journey back.
