Chapter 31 - Lecture

"Morning"

Edwin said while looking at Noah then he yawned. He covered his mouth with his hands while doing so and then down at a desk.

"Ah, good morning. How's the weekend?"

Noah responded and asked while he waved his hands as a sign of saying hello. It was currently 9:30 am and they were in a lecture. The topic for the lecture was introduction to mana theory with a biological focus and the current seating was 10 rows away from the professor near the edge of the side. He had an ipad out ready for the course.

"I had to do something last minute so I'm a bit tired."

"Oh pray tell what was it?"

"Just an assignment."

"Last minute? Like you forgot at the last minute?

"No, not that kind, more like it was assigned at the last minute. You would think they would extend the due date so here we are now."

He then took out a tablet before he continued to speak.

"What about you?"

"I had to go do some volunteering for the church . Want details?"

"Of course I do, wait. Didn't know you were with the churches. Got a story to tell? Do I call it church or cult though?"

Noah shook his head but that confused Edwin a bit more. Edwin went into thought but Noah answered him.

"Honestly I don't know either. Well, do you call it church or cult?"

"You are asking me?"

Noah sighed before he looked up front to see the professor walking in and getting ready.

"I guess church does sound better than cult. But don't most people call it a cult?

"I mean don't people use them interchangeably? Before the world changed we had actual religions and churches. Stuff just changed and the newer generations use different terms. Well I try to use the older terms before the disaster because it sounds better."

"Then just use church instead."

Edwin nodded and smiled.

"So what did you do over the weekend? You said you'll go into details.'

"This, that, going into one of the corrupted forests ya know."

"You really went into one of those? You aren't infected right?"

"Aren't I here?"

"Ah, right."

Edwin laughed before Noah looked away and now looked at the screen in the front of the classroom. It was labeled the 4th lecture and it was on the topic of Mana.

Noah looked at it and noticed similarities to his old world.

The professor looked older than most and seemed as if he was currently proud of himself.

"Let's get started."

He was not mixed up but his voice could be heard throughout the classroom. Noah was intrigued on the topic of the class since he could find a way to learn more of this world.

Edwin looked at Noah who was indulged in the topic and smiled. At that moment he felt as if he wasn't the stranger he saw in the woods but rather a close friend.

That smile didn't last long though, his eyes wandered back to the screen and was looking at the contents.

What is this?

He looked confused and tried to understand it to no avail. He looked aside to Noah and gave a pitiful look of despair. Noah looked at Edwin to see it but chuckled then gave him a pat on the back and whispered to him.

"Good luck."

The professor spoke before Edwin could reply to the sarcastic encouragement.

"The specific vibrations that the researchers found just a few days ago align with the current theory of the bosonic string theory where everything dwindles down to everything being vibrating strings. The current anomalies and what the society calls mutants are all now being researched more and publishing more papers on it."

Before long the professor goes on a tangent on theoretical physics before a student raises their hands and asks him how it was related to the class.

"Oh, mana is being re categorized so you guys don't need to take the class. Originally I was going to teach about mana and its scientific breakdown but since it is being recategorized you don't need to know that."

Everyone in the class got loud and started talking to each other asking if it's ok and other difficulties it may hold.

"Ok ok quiet down, since the semester has already started we made it easier for you guys, we aren't monsters. I won't be your teacher, instead we have someone else. He was originally your PSO lecturer for chemistry that most of you have. Mana and the science behind it will be categorized as physics. You will now be taking a simpler course.mana and its effects on human biology."

Noah heard this and looked disappointed. The main reason was because he was rather excited to learn more about this world's mana. He realized that the humans here care a lot more about the specifics which were different in his world.

Darn it, the best we got from our world's research was that mana is cool and should be used but not researched.Maybe I should switch majors.

Edwin looked at Noah and now was smiling. He saw this and sighed before taking out 5 dollars.

"Fine, you win the bet."

"Thank you very much."

[Did you seriously make a bet on if the two of you will pass the class?]

Of course I did, now they switched it to an easier course there's no way we won't pass. The other man course had a class average grade of 4.0 no one has failed the class it was that easy.

Noah was sitting there waiting for more information about the change and the professor was waiting for the class to quiet down more.

"Any questions?"

Before long people raised their hands. The professor pointed at someone in the front of the classroom who had a red shirt and black pants on.

"Which post lecturer will be the new professor?"

"Ah, yes. The new professor will start at 6:30 pm Monday. Professor Clark."

The one with the parasite?!
