Chapter: Don't Close Your Eyes
(Celestine's POV)
"Jay?"
Something wasn't right.
I heard the thud before I saw her.
It wasn't loud.
But it was enough.
I pushed the door open quickly—
And froze.
Jay was on the floor.
For a second…
My brain refused to understand what I was seeing.
"Jay?"
No response.
My heart dropped.
"JAY!"
I rushed to her side, dropping to my knees, shaking her shoulders gently.
"Hey—hey, look at me…"
Nothing.
Her eyes were barely open
.
Her breathing uneven.
Panic.
Pure panic.
"PERCY!" I screamed.
My voice didn't even sound like mine.
Footsteps thundered down the hallway.
"What happened—"
He stopped mid-sentence when he saw her.
"Oh my God—"
"Don't just stand there!" I snapped, my hands trembling. "Help me!"
He rushed forward, kneeling beside us.
"Jay… hey, can you hear me?"
No response.
"Her hands are cold," I whispered, my voice breaking. "Percy, something's wrong…"
"I know," he said quickly, trying to stay calm. "We need to get her to the hospital. Now."
Everything moved too fast after that.
Too loud.
Too chaotic.
We lifted her carefully.
Her head fell slightly to the side, completely limp.
And that's when fear really hit me.
"Jay, stay with me," I whispered, brushing her hair back desperately.
"Don't do this… not now… please…"
The car ride was a blur.
Red lights ignored.
Voices overlapping.
My hands never left hers.
"Her breathing—Percy, is it normal?"
"I don't know—just keep talking to her!"
"Jay, listen to me," I said, leaning closer. "You're okay. You hear me? You're okay. We're almost there…"
My voice broke.
"Just don't close your eyes…"
Hospital.
Bright lights.
Too bright.
"Emergency!" Percy shouted as we rushed in.
Nurses came instantly.
Doctors followed.
Questions.
Too many questions.
"What happened?"
"When did this start?"
"Any symptoms before?"
"I—I don't know!" I said, my voice shaking. "She said nothing! She didn't tell us anything—"
They took her from us.
Just like that.
"Wait—" I reached for her hand—
But it slipped away.
The doors closed.
Silence.
I stood there.
Frozen.
My hands still shaking.
Her warmth still lingering in my palms.
"What if…" I whispered.
Percy looked at me.
"What if something happens to her?"
He didn't answer.
Because he didn't know.
Minutes felt like hours.
Hours felt like forever.
Both our families came
Mama panicked , dad worried
A doctor finally walked out.
My heart stopped.
"How is she?" I asked immediately.
He hesitated.
Just for a second.
But I saw it.
That hesitation.
"We're running tests," he said carefully. "She collapsed due to severe neurological stress. We need to understand the cause."
"What does that mean?" Percy asked.
"It means…" the doctor paused, choosing his words, "we don't have clear answers yet."
My chest tightened.
"No… no, that's not enough," I said. "You need to do something—"
"We are," he assured. "But we need time."
Time.
The one thing that suddenly felt terrifying
I sat down slowly.
My hands still trembling.
Keifer.
My heart dropped again.
"He doesn't know…" I whispered.
Percy looked at me.
"We shouldn't tell him yet," he said quietly. "He's already stressed with work. Let's wait until we know more."
I hesitated.
It didn't feel right.
But at the same time…
What would we even say?
We didn't know anything ourselves.
"…okay," I whispered.
But as I looked at those closed doors…
At the place where they took her away…
I felt it.
Deep in my chest.
Something was very, very wrong
