Badum. Badum. Badum.
Cold, sleek walls. The heaters up in full blast. Soft covers underneath my butt, Caruso's scent engulfing me. I wrap my hands around myself, clinging to the scent emanating from his shirt. Yet only the sound ricocheting in my chest fills the room.
Since he'd rescued me over five hours ago, he hasn't left my side. I clung to him like life, almost molding to his form. Unfortunately, he had to take a call fifteen minutes ago and has been gone since.
But when the door to the penthouse he brought me to clicks open, my heart thrashes against my sternum in a wild, wanton beat.
His bulky frame fills the room, aura cold and drenching, yet it pulls me in.
"Feeling better?" Raspy and deep, his voice settles on my skin.
Am I feeling better? I don't even know. The entire week I've been trapped in the dark feels like a fucking lifetime, and I can't even seem to piece my sanity together anymore.
