Chapter 72 - BONUS Chapter 72: Delivering the Letter

Chapter 72: Delivering the Letter

Each shot hit the head. They hadn't transformed yet, their eyes staring at Horus.

Horus carefully looked around. The remaining people were all accidentally injured by stray bullets.

Standing among the corpses, the surrounding combat personnel all looked timid. Horus was extremely irritated and roared, "Get them to the medical room for treatment. Burn all these walkers."

After speaking, Horus walked toward his own house.

The atmosphere he'd worked so hard to ease had become tense again. During this period, the ranch would definitely have all kinds of gossip.

Horus's steps paused. He turned and ordered, "Bring Ram's body to my house."

After Ram's body was delivered to Horus's house, Horus searched his clothes and found a piece of cardboard wrapped in plastic film.

There was only one sentence on it:

"Cooperation achieved!"

Horus froze for a moment, then fiercely smashed the cardboard on the floor and stomped on it several times, cursing, "You fucking bastard, Caesar."

"Just wait. I'll definitely get revenge on you!"

After calming down, Horus still pondered for a moment and chose to accept this cooperation that came at a heavy price.

Only by accepting this cooperation could Horus seek greater benefits and get revenge on that bastard Caesar.

Horus's eyes were dark and unclear, flashing with spots of blood red.

...

Several days later, Caesar ranch's borders were finally settled.

Caesar had also finally integrated several ranches together and began building wooden cabins at intervals.

They could both house patrolling combat team members and allocate houses to residents, teaching them how to raise livestock and quickly expand the cattle and sheep breeding range.

A cowboy rode a horse and arrived at Caesar ranch's gate, respectfully dismounting to hand over an envelope.

Today guarding the gate was Merle. Merle held a cigarette in his mouth, frowning as he looked at the envelope back and forth.

"Captain Merle, this was sent by Boss Leon. He told me I must personally hand it to Leader Caesar."

Merle held the envelope and stepped back two paces, waving his hand. "Search him!"

The cowboy raised both hands high without any resistance. After the search was completed, two handguns and a knife were found.

He had no suspicious traces on his body.

Merle pointed at the horse the cowboy rode in on. "The horse can't come in. Only you follow me. The handguns and such will be kept by us."

After the cowboy agreed, Merle drove him to the conference room.

In the conference room, Caesar had arrived early.

As soon as the cowboy entered and saw Caesar, he wanted to hand over the envelope, but the envelope was in Merle's hand.

Merle walked to Caesar's side and gave Caesar the envelope.

Caesar opened the envelope and read it carefully.

The envelope didn't have many words, only time, location, firearms and equipment, and so on.

It didn't say how to attack or which side would be the main assault.

Caesar narrowed his eyes. In his mind, the idea that Phil would be the captain of Leon's expedition became more and more certain.

"All right, I've seen this envelope. I have no objections."

"You can go back and reply to Leon."

"Yes, thank you!" After receiving the reply, the cowboy quickly left the conference room.

"Boss, should we send someone to notify Horus?" After the cowboy left, Merle asked.

Caesar nodded. "Send a cowboy. Try to have him be careful. I suspect Horus still hasn't vented his anger."

"Besides, even if we don't notify him, Old Man Leon will notify him."

After Merle got the envelope Caesar wrote, he thought it over. There weren't many cowboys at the ranch—you could say there were only so many, like Caesar's four trusted confidants.

Having them take risks, Caesar definitely wouldn't agree.

If he used newly joined ranch cowboys to take risks and they died, they'd become paranoid, causing bad influence.

Since this won't work and that won't work, why not find people outside the ranch?

The corners of Merle's mouth curved into a smile. Right, he could find cowboys outside.

Think of it, do it.

Merle took people out and found a very small ranch nearby.

Only the ranch owner himself worked at the ranch, but people often went missing at this ranch owner's place.

Merle led people to directly rush into the ranch owner's home, forcefully searching his house.

In the underground warehouse, Merle found the skeletal remains of several people.

Among them were women and children, clearly all victims of this person's evil hands.

So Merle and his people beat the ranch owner severely. Moreover, Merle cut out a piece of the ranch owner's flesh.

He put something inside and sewed it back up.

The entire process was contaminated. The ranch owner trembled with fear.

"Hey, little brat." Merle looked at his surgical handiwork and nodded with satisfaction.

"You deliver this envelope to Horus's ranch. Your mission will be complete."

"Then you come back, and I'll remove this micro-bomb for you."

Merle poked the crude suture with his finger, making the ranch owner hiss in pain.

"Remember, if you don't go deliver the letter and remove the wound on your own, this micro-bomb will automatically explode."

"Have you seen fireworks? Just like that. Your internal organs and everything will all explode out of your belly. Very pretty."

The ranch owner's eyes were full of terror. He trembled and nodded repeatedly. "I'll obey, I'll obey."

"Please, don't make me into fireworks."

"Hey, that's right." Merle walked in front of the ranch owner. Looking at his frightened appearance, he nodded with satisfaction. "Don't worry and go."

"When you come back, I'll return the ranch to you and give you some food as compensation."

Then Merle untied the ranch owner, gave him a horse, and gave him the envelope.

"Captain, is that micro-bomb real?" At this moment, a team member asked curiously.

He really didn't know the ranch had such high-tech things. He blinked his eyes curiously.

Merle snorted and irritably slapped his head. "You've watched too many movies."

"Of course it's fake."

"If he doesn't die at Horus's ranch, he'll die when he comes back. Otherwise, would I really return this newly acquired ranch to him?"

Anyway, he was scum. No one would care about his life.

In Merle's view, being able to let himself use him was already the most valuable moment in his sinful, miserable life.

After Merle returned to the ranch, he reported this matter to Caesar.

Merle stood in front of Caesar's desk, body straight, ready to accept Caesar's reprimand.

After all, such behavior was unacceptable in front of a righteous ranch owner.

Caesar smiled instead. "What's this about?"

"You did very well this time."

Merle doubted his own ears. How come Caesar didn't scold him but praised him instead?

Caesar waved his hand and said, "Merle, I don't care what you did or what methods you used."

"I only care about one thing—whether it benefits our ranch."
