Chapter 34 - The Monster‑Hunter Strike Team

The Young Wolf had skillfully shielded both Christina and his mother. Lord Bandorn Wolfwood never learned how much the two women had enjoyed themselves the previous night behind his back. The secret remained between them, as the castle walls slowly fell silent.

But at dawn the next day, there was no place for lighthearted talk. In the knight's hall, serious preparations were underway: the mission against the Blue Ogre was about to begin.

On Silverwood's side stood Christina Silverwood, Captain of the Silver Knights, thirty years old, together with her five finest female knights, ready to face the monster.

On Wolfwood's side, the Young Wolf's elite company gathered:

Andras Wolfwood, the Young Wolf, noble lord and mage, only twelve years old.

Noelle Wolffood, half‑elf maid and mage apprentice, also twelve.

Ironclaw, earth‑wolf beast‑kin, loyal hound and servant, fourteen.

Anita, the Swift Gale, elite Wolf Knight, twenty‑two, already at lieutenant level, though at Andras's request she did not challenge Janos Wolf, the official lieutenant.

Andrea Wolf, fourteen, elite Wolf Knight, a prodigious swordswoman with the potential to one day become Captain.

These five formed the Young Wolf's elite team, now stepping beyond Wolfwood's borders for the first time, to prove their strength upon Silverwood's lands.

The light of dawn slowly pierced through the cracks of the castle walls, and the warriors of both houses set out together.

This mission was not merely about slaying a monster: it was the first time Wolfwood and Silverwood shared responsibility, and the Young Wolf's company would show the world what they were truly capable of.

Anita, the Whirlwind

Anita was the daughter of a blacksmith. Both of her elder brothers chose the craft, but from childhood she knew she would walk a different path. With her boyish nature she always sought battle: when the village children played at knights, she defeated every boy her age with her wooden sword. Even then she had decided—she would become a female knight, and she would never allow anyone to question her resolve.

From her days as a knight apprentice, she watched and copied every move of the Young Wolf. Not only the clean, proper techniques, but also the creative and cunning tricks with which Andras could surprise his opponents. Thus Anita's fighting style became particularly dangerous: in her right hand she wields a short sword, while in her left she carries a dagger, striking or defending with lightning speed.

Her short brown hair and brown eyes radiate determination. She wears the black armor of the Wolf Knights, adorned with the bronze Wolf crest—the symbol of loyalty and resolve.

Anita's magical element is wind. Knights cannot wield elements as mages do—they cannot summon storms or flying blades. But they can infuse their weapons with elemental power. Anita's sword and dagger thus become wind‑imbued weapons: her cuts are sharper, slicing easily through the thick hides and hard armor of monsters. The wind element is especially effective against beasts, and it complements Anita's deadly precision in battle.

Her name, "the Whirlwind," comes not only from her wind element. With her hyperactive, boyish nature she is always in motion, always seeking new challenges. In the team, she is the one who breaks tension with loud laughter, the first to rush forward, and the one who never lets her companions' spirits falter.

Anita may be the blacksmith's daughter, but on the battlefield she has long surpassed her origins. She is the Gale—one of Wolfwood's sharpest blades, carving her path through the world with the power of wind and her own unyielding determination.

The battlefield rang with steel. Anita darted forward, her short sword flashing in her right hand, the dagger in her left slicing through the air with uncanny speed. A gust of wind seemed to follow her every step, her blades shimmering with elemental force.

"Too slow!" she laughed, her voice bright and mocking as she slipped past the monster's strike. With a swift twist, her dagger cut deep into its armored hide, the wind's edge biting sharper than steel alone.

Her companions watched in awe as Anita spun, her movements relentless, her laughter echoing like a storm. She was not merely a knight—she was the Gale itself, tearing through the enemy with fearless joy.

Andrea Wolf – the Model Knight

Andrea Wolf is the youngest swordswoman of the Wolf Knight family. Her bloodline is noble and martial: granddaughter of the Captain of the Wolf Knights, and daughter of the Wolf Knights' Lieutenant. From birth it was decided that she would carry on the knightly tradition, and she was raised for this path since childhood.

She wears her long brown hair carefully braided behind her, and her eyes always shine with courage. In Wolfwood she is regarded as the most talented swordswoman, for in every movement lies the purity of a maiden warrior born to fight.

Unlike her comrade Anita, the Swift Gale, Andrea never resorts to underhanded tricks. She is a true model knight, fighting with honor and integrity. Her weapon is a longsword, which she wields with such natural ease that it seems the blade itself is part of her body. She wears the white armor of the Wolf Knights, upon which the black Wolf crest gleams—the symbol of loyalty and knightly pride.

From childhood she was trained to become the personal Wolf Knight and bodyguard of Wolfwood's young lord, Andras. The Young Wolf recognized her latent talent from the very first moment. Though Andrea was initially a shy girl, her encounter with the Earthstone Bearbeast changed everything: her courage awakened, and since then she has stood firm in every battle.

Andrea's magical element is wind. When she infuses her sword with its power, her strikes become so sharp that she can cleave through the trunk of a thick tree with a single blow. This ability is especially effective against monsters, yet Andrea never abuses it: she always fights honorably, and thanks to her talent she has never needed deceitful tactics.

Her personality and knightly pride would never allow her to stray from this path. Andrea Wolf is Wolfwood's hope—a maiden swordswoman born to fight, who may one day become the worthy successor to the Captain of the Wolf Knights.

Noelle Wolffood – the Half‑Elf Healer

Noelle Wolffood is the Young Wolf's personal maid, serving both as attendant and battle companion. Her short snow‑white hair, violet eyes, and pointed ears reveal her half‑elf heritage. That elven blood carries a special gift: a talent for magic, which set her apart from others at an early age.

Her element is water. Noelle is a water mage and healer, her magical power twice that of Andras. Though she cannot yet wield her master's water techniques with the same precision, she surpasses him in one crucial aspect: healing. Already she is regarded as Wolfwood's finest healer. Healing is the hallmark of water mages, and Noelle can support multiple allies at once, mending their wounds, while Andras can only regenerate himself.

Her weapon is a staff crowned with a glowing blue crystal. The crystal was carved from the magical stone of a Giant Water Slime, while the staff's body was crafted from Wolfoak—a wood found only in the Forest of Wolves. This staff perfectly suits Noelle's water element and amplifies her healing power.

Her battle attire was personally designed by Andras: a uniform blending the style of a maid and a Wolf Mage. Black in color, it bears the Wolf crest, and beneath the skirt lies a hidden dagger for close combat.

Noelle's personality is gentle and kind, yet in battle she is resolute and brave. Her hobbies are baking and studying magic. Her scones are famous throughout Wolfwood, and more than once she has eased tension within the team with a tray of freshly baked treats. She considers Carla her closest friend, bound to her by a strong tie. In magic, she is a pupil of Master Florian, who recognized the unique strength flowing from her half‑elf blood.

Noelle Wolffood is not merely a maid. She is the healer, the gentle strength that binds the team together, without whom Wolfwood's elite would be far more vulnerable.

Ironclaw – the Earth‑Wolf Hound

Ironclaw was once the pack leader of the Earth‑Wolf clan, a beast‑kin who carries within her the strength and instincts of her kind. Across all of Wolfwood, her nose is unmatched: her sense of smell is so refined that she can detect danger or prey from kilometers away.

Her magical element is earth. In battle, she cloaks her body with the power of earth, guided by her wolf instincts. At such times, her skin becomes as hard as if she wore three suits of armor at once, granting her nearly impenetrable defense. For offense, she relies not on weapons but on her own claws. When infused with earth, her claws grow stronger and larger, appearing as though her hands had transformed into the talons of a griffin—only carved from stone.

Ironclaw holds a peculiar role within House Wolfwood: though she is listed as a maidservant, she never performs servant's work. She is more like a household companion, a loyal hound, a beloved favorite whom Andras especially cherishes. The Young Wolf adores her wolf ears and often plays with her, as though bound by a brotherly tie.

Her appearance is both wild and human: long dark‑brown hair, brown wolf eyes, dark wolf ears, and a tail mark her uniqueness. Her battle attire is inspired by both maid uniforms and the garb of the Wolf Hunters. Designed for mobility, her skirt is shorter than Noelle's, allowing her freedom of movement in combat. Upon her clothing, the Wolf crest gleams in brown, symbolizing her loyalty and strength.

Within the team, Ironclaw represents not only raw power but also the instinctive loyalty of wolves. She is the one who hurls himself into battle without hesitation whenever her master must be protected—be it against bandits, monsters, or even a dragon. With the strength of earth and the instincts of a wolf, Ironclaw is one of the most fearsome, yet most endearing members of Wolfwood's elite company.

Andras Wolfwood – the Young Wolf

Andras Wolfwood, also known as the Young Wolf, is the young lord of House Wolfwood and the family's greatest hope. His dark‑brown hair and blue eyes radiate both strength and determination. From an early age he proved himself no ordinary mage: he possesses two magical elements—water and lightning—a rarity within the Kingdom.

He also trained in swordsmanship, an unusual achievement for a mage. Though his swordplay is considered average, he wields his short sword with remarkable creativity and at times cunning tricks. In his right hand he always carries the short sword, while in his left he holds a staff crafted, like Noelle's, from a Giant Water Slime crystal and Wolfoak wood—though his is shorter, designed to be used seamlessly alongside the blade.

As a mage, he is a true prodigy. Constantly seeking new techniques, nearly all of his abilities are self‑developed. His battle attire reflects his dual nature: a fusion of Wolf Mage and Wolf Knight garb. Black in color, it is reinforced with light armor made from the hides of various monsters. With his lightning element he can strengthen the armor until its defense rivals that of heavy knightly plate. Upon his clothing, the Wolf crest gleams in gold, marking his special status.

As a water mage, he cannot heal others—only himself. Yet when he combines water and lightning, his self‑healing becomes as powerful as that of a battle troll, rendering him nearly invincible in combat.

Andras's hobbies include training, studying magic, and developing new techniques. Though a serious and determined warrior, he has a childlike side: he loves fine food, and his favorite snack is scones, often baked for him by Noelle.

The Young Wolf is not merely a talented mage. He is the future of House Wolfwood, a born leader who, with the power of water and lightning and his own genius, prepares to one day be counted among the greatest heroes of the world.

Christina Silverwood – Captain of the Silver Knights

Christina Silverwood is the pride of House Silverwood, Captain of the Silver Knights. She is the strongest swordswoman in all of Silverwood, and at the same time the most beautiful maiden—at thirty years of age her radiant beauty and dignity still set her apart among the nobles.

In her hands rests the legendary sword of House Silverwood, Silverstrike, a weapon that for generations has symbolized the family's strength and heroism. Christina is its master; every movement flows in perfect harmony with the blade, as though the weapon itself were an extension of her will.

Her appearance radiates both strength and elegance. She wears her long silver‑blonde hair braided at the side, and her light‑blue eyes gleam with a cold brilliance when she faces her enemies on the battlefield. Her silver knight's armor is adorned with golden patterns, bearing the crest of the Silver Sword in shining gold—the emblem of House Silverwood's heritage and pride.

Christina's magical element is earth, as with all members of House Silverwood. The power of earth grants her stability and unyielding defense, perfectly suited to her knightly nature. She can infuse her sword with earth's energy, making her strikes heavy and decisive, as though the strength of the mountains themselves descended upon her foes.

She is not merely a captain, but a living legend. Christina Silverwood embodies loyalty, beauty, and strength, setting an example for her knights in every battle. Her name is already inscribed upon the golden pages of House Silverwood's history.
