Chapter 199 - The Dance of Doom

Umbra Arrives – The Siege of Darkness

Outside the walls of the Dolermo estate, black fog swirled.

The air turned cold, as if winter's breath had touched the land.

The estate guards began shouting.

"Shadows! Shadows at the wall!"

Andras and Vanessa rushed to the surface.

In the courtyard, black cracks appeared in the ground.

From the cracks, shadow seeped out like living, dark liquid.

At the center of the fractures stood a figure.

Umbra.

But now… he wasn't hiding.

He wasn't lurking.

He wasn't playing.

Darkness swirled behind his cloak like a vortex.

Two red eyes burned behind his mask.

His voice was both human and something else.

"Dolermo girl. Wolfwood. Welcome again."

Vanessa stepped forward, drawing her sword.

"What do you want?!"

Umbra slowly raised his hand.

"The past. Revenge. And blood."

The ground trembled.

The cracks widened.

And from the depths, a massive shadow demon rose.

The Shadow Demon – Herald of Doom

The creature was at least three times the height of a human.

Its body was made of black mist, but its arms and chest were formed of solid shadow.

Its eyes glowed red like burning embers.

Its voice was deep, distorted, and every word made the air vibrate.

"WHO… MUST… BE EXECUTED…?"

Umbra pointed at them.

"Kill them. Both of them."

Vanessa stepped forward.

"Wolfwood, run! It's too strong!"

Andras grabbed her hand.

"I'm not leaving you. Never."

Vanessa's eyes filled with emotion.

"Then together."

The demon roared and charged.

The Battle – The Dance of Doom

The demon's arm slammed down.

The ground cracked, stones shattered.

Vanessa rolled aside, Andras raised a lightning wall.

Lightning sizzled across the demon's shadow‑arm, but it didn't stop it.

Vanessa lunged, her sword glowing red.

"Flame Blade!"

The blade cut through the demon's shoulder — but the wound closed instantly.

Andras slammed his staff into the ground.

"Lightning Net!"

Blue energy wrapped around the demon — but it tore it apart with a single motion.

Umbra laughed.

"He is my strongest creation. You cannot defeat him."

Vanessa shouted:

"Then we'll kill you!"

She charged forward.

Umbra brushed her aside with a single motion.

She hit the ground but sprang back up immediately.

Andras fought the demon, Vanessa fought Umbra.

The battle was chaotic, brutal, hopeless.

And then… it happened.

The Moment of Fate – Vanessa's Mortal Wound

Umbra summoned a shadow blade.

The blade was black, cold, and deadly.

Vanessa lunged forward to protect Andras.

Umbra smiled.

"I was waiting for exactly this."

And the blade…

drove into Vanessa's chest.

Her eyes widened.

Her sword slipped from her hand.

Her knees trembled.

"A… Andras…" she whispered.

Andras screamed.

"NO!"

Lightning magic exploded around him.

The demon staggered back.

Umbra was taken aback.

Andras caught the girl in his arms.

Vanessa's blood was warm.

Her vision blurred.

"Don't… don't cry… Wolfwood…" she whispered. "I… I always… wanted to be… with you…"

Andras's tears fell onto her face.

"Don't talk like that! I won't let you die! Vanessa! Look at me!"

Vanessa smiled faintly.

"You… are… the light… in the darkness…"

Her hand touched Andras's cheek.

"I love you…"

And her eyes…

closed.

Vanessa Dolermo died.

In Andras's arms.

The Revenge – Andras's Power Unleashed

The world darkened.

The air vibrated.

Lightning wrapped around Andras.

Umbra stepped back.

"This… this is impossible…"

Andras slowly stood.

His eyes glowed with blue and white light.

Lightning and water swirled around him at once.

"Umbra…" he said quietly. "I will kill you."

The demon charged.

Andras destroyed it with a single motion.

Umbra tried to flee.

Andras summoned a lightning blade.

"This is for Vanessa."

And with a single strike…

he cut through Umbra's shadow‑body.

Umbra screamed as his form tore apart and dissolved into smoke.

The darkness vanished.

The battle ended.

The Tragic End – Andras's Farewell

Andras returned to Vanessa's body.

He knelt beside her.

He took her hand.

Her face was peaceful.

As if she were only sleeping.

Andras bowed his head.

"I love you. And I will never… never forget you."

Wind swept across the estate.

Sunlight broke through the clouds.

And Andras…

was left alone.

Between light and darkness.

Between victory and loss.

Between love and death.

Vanessa Dolermo's memory remained forever in his heart.

And the story…

became truly tragic.

Returning to Wolf Lodge

Behind the ruins of the Dolermo estate, everything slowly fell silent.

The demon crumbled to dust, Umbra's shadow dispersed, and the wind swept across the battlefield as if nature itself tried to erase the traces of tragedy.

But Andras could not erase it.

He could not forget Vanessa's final words.

Her warm hand on his face.

Her smile — beautiful even in the moment of death.

The road back to Wolf Lodge was long.

And silent.

Coming Home – Silence and Exhaustion

When Andras stepped through the inn's door, the team was already asleep.

The candles flickered softly, and the air smelled of fresh bread and herbs.

Only Noelle was awake.

The half‑elf maid sat at the kitchen table reading a book, but the moment she heard Andras's steps, she lifted her head.

Her eyes immediately filled with worry.

"Young Wolf…?" she whispered. "What happened to you? You look so… sad. And so quiet."

Andras tried to smile, but couldn't.

"It was a long day. A very long day. I'd like to go to my room. Please… come with me. I could use a massage."

Noelle nodded, but her gaze didn't leave Andras's face.

"Of course, Young Wolf. But… something is wrong. I can see it."

Andras didn't answer.

He simply walked up the stairs.

Noelle followed quietly.

In the Room – The Silence Breaks

The room was warm, the fire still glowing in the fireplace.

Andras sat on the edge of the bed, took off his cloak, and his shoulders sagged as if the weight of the world pressed down on him.

Noelle stepped behind him and gently placed her hands on his shoulders.

"I'll massage you, Young Wolf. But… please… tell me what happened. I can't bear to see you like this."

Her voice was gentle, warm, full of care.

Andras closed his eyes.

The words came slowly.

"I defeated Umbra. And the shadow demon too."

His voice was hoarse.

"But… I couldn't save Vanessa."

Noelle's Hands Stopped.

The Air Froze.

"Vanessa… is dead?" she asked softly, almost in a whisper.

Andras nodded.

"In my arms. She said… she loves me. And I… I couldn't save her."

Noelle slowly sat beside him on the bed.

Her eyes filled with tears, but she didn't cry.

She simply looked at Andras, as if trying to understand his pain.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," she said quietly. "She… she was a good person. And brave. And… important to you."

Andras turned his head away.

"The Dolermo family… lost their leader and their heir at the same time. Vanessa's father… and Vanessa herself."

Noelle nodded.

"I know. I heard it in the city. The new head of the family… is Tessa Dolermo. Vanessa's cousin. A fourteen‑year‑old girl."

Andras lifted his head.

"Yes. I saw her. She looks like Vanessa… but she's not like her. She's not a fighter. She's more like… a bookworm. Glasses, shy. She wasn't born for this."

Noelle gently took Andras's hand.

"No one is born to carry such a burden. But… maybe you'll help her. Just like you helped Vanessa."

Andras's eyes filled with tears.

"I don't know, Noelle. I don't know if I can… lose someone again."

Noelle moved closer.

Her voice was barely more than a whisper.

"You won't. Because I'm here. And I'm not going anywhere. Ever."

Her hand slid along Andras's shoulder, then slowly began to massage him.

Gently, attentively, lovingly.

Andras closed his eyes.

The pain didn't fade.

But the loneliness… did.

Noelle was there.

Beside him.

Silent.

Caring.

Loving.

And in the warmth of Wolf Lodge, in the shadow of loss, Andras felt for the first time that maybe… maybe one day he would be able to stand again.

Not today.

Not tomorrow.

But someday.

And Noelle would be there with him.
