Synopsis
The world of Planeta is a place of war, strife, and change. In the West, Kingdoms, great and small, engage in petty squabbles over land or dynastic claims. Tidings from the east bring news of a confederation forming amongst the nomadic horse lords to bring death and destruction to whoever stands in their way. In the far-off Orient, the Infidels, long since on the retreat from the burgeoning crusader kingdoms, have won a brilliant victory, reversing the tide of war and once more threatening the Holy City itself. Most importantly, the Island Kingdom of Anlett once more turns its eyes on the powerful but decentralized Kingdom of Friedan, seeking to claim the throne for itself. Wyatt Craine finds himself thrust into a world much different from the technologically advanced Earth he knows. With his knowledge of the History of Earth, Wyatt seeks to raise his newfound family out of poverty and establish his name in the annals of history.

Chapter 1 - Reborn

Wyatt's body had become a ruin, bones crushed, blood pouring from a dozen gashes, and bone protruding from the shoulder where it shouldn't.

"Wyatt!" his mother shouts, and I can see from my one still usable eye that she is fine. If she wasn't fine, then my pushing her out of her way would have been for nothing.

Distant sounds of sirens grow closer, but still too far away. "I'm Dead," Wyatt tries to say, but only the sound of lungs choking on blood comes. Wyatt, aware that these are his last moments, turned his thoughts towards his mother, "I'm sorry, no child should go out before their parent. I wish she weren't here to witness this." He hoped she would find comfort from his brothers and family after this.

Darkness overwhelms him as his soul is dragged away to the sky

"Man," he thinks to himself, "I didn't even get to have sex yet." he knew the thought was greedy, but he allowed himself the childish thought.

Much to Wyatt's chagrin, no pearly white gates greeted him, nor even a place of hellfire and brimstone. Not that he was a particularly devout follower of any religion, he hoped there would be something after life. Instead, he found a great and empty abyss, devoid of life, light, or any enjoyable sensation. The void was so dark his eyes couldn't detect his own body. He found himself floating, if that was what he could call it.

Time passed by, hours, days, months, even, there was no way to tell in this boring void.

His wits began to flee as the never-ending boredom from floating for an unknowable amount of time threatened to overwhelm him. Then, as if an answer to his pleas for something, anything to happen, a bright white, like in the image of a fluffy cloud, flashed into existence. He considered devising a plan, but understanding there was no alternative, he decided to risk something rash.

Wyatt gathered all the energy he had built up from having so long to rest and threw himself headlong into the light.

The second his head reached the light; he was engulfed by it. For many long moments, he was completely blinded by it, and, when suddenly all his senses rushed back to him, he found himself panicking.

"Waaaaaa," the noise startled him. For a moment, it seemed to him as if he had made that noise. He tried to open his mouth again, to shout out "Hello?" but once again all he managed was a pitiful "Waaaaa."

His eyes, now adjusted to the light, gave him a better view of his surroundings. The walls, for he was in a room, were made of wood logs and planks, though the flooring was of stone. A window let in a cold breeze, along with small flakes of snow. Next to the window was a bed covered in furs, with a sweat-drenched woman sprawled across the fur blankets. Her stomach had a swell as if she were pregnant, but she was not.

"There's no way." Wyatt thinks to himself, no longer willing to listen to his own cries. To check the newfound suspicions of his situation, he looked down at his body. To his surprise, his neck failed to move his head properly. He managed to see enough, however.

"I've been reborn, and I have all my memories." His thoughts brought him immense joy; his mind was filled with ideas and goals for his new life. Thinking of the lives of all his heroes from earth, like Ceaser, Alexander, or Napoleon, he decided that no matter what it takes, he would leave a mark on the world.

With an alarming slam, the door to the room swung open. A man rushed in shouting, "Is it a Boy or a girl?" he was as out of breath as the woman who had just given birth. "Stop gawking at me and say something!" his words came off as more excited than actually angry.

"Robert, you startled the nurses. Calm yourself." Wyatt's mother spoke with quite authority

"Come now, Anna, you know I can't stand surprises; tell me I'm dying to know."

"First, apologize to the maids."

"I will not," Robert stood his ground, "I am the baron of this land, their lord."

Anna didn't say another word; whatever wordless conversation passed between the couple, Anna emerged as the victor.

"I, Robert of house Sonder, lord of Sonder Hill, apologize for my actions." Robert bowed low to the two nurses who now looked utterly dumbfounded that a Noble would apologize to them. Neither nurse responded to the apology, shocked as they were. A dreadfully awkward moment of silence passed, broken by the giggles of Wyatt, who found the whole situation amusing.

Unable to handle the wait any longer, Robert sprang forward to the bed where his wife tenderly held Wyatt. Anna gently passed her son off to Robert, who held him up high in joy, much to the displeasure of his wife, who was afraid the brute was going to drop their child.

A massive grin spread across Robert's face, "A SON! I have a son," The Giant of a man spun Wyatt around in a circle. Wyatt couldn't contain his glee at the situation and started laughing uncontrollably, which spurred Robert to continue his joyous dance.

"Evidently, my young body has an effect on my emotions; I can stop laughing, though I think I might vomit." Wyatt thought.

Terrified looks from the nurses, along with a scolding from Anna, eventually stopped Robert's outburst.

"I shall name him Robert, son of Robert," Robert puffed his chest up proudly.

"No." Anna countered firmly, "We will name him Edwin after your father."

"Let's settle on Edward."

"Edwin, and that's final."

Robert, to his credit, tried to convince Anna, but his wife had none of it. Robert accepted his defeat and abandoned the room to attend to his other duties.

Wyatt, or Edwin as he was now named, found everything extremely amusing. It was clear to him that the couple had a true love for each other. Robert, despite his massive size, was a lovable jokester, while Anna, despite being much smaller and frailer looking than even the nurses, had shown herself to be stubborn beyond measure.

"There will be so much to learn, a whole new world awaits." Edwin found himself daydreaming about his future. Soon, once he was grown enough, he promised to himself to learn all he could about this world.
