"Ladies and gentlemen, we're experiencing severe weather conditions that have prevented our scheduled landing. We'll be rerouting to an alternate airport. Please keep your seatbelts secured as we navigate through heavy turbulence ahead. We appreciate your patience during this delay."
Flying had always terrified me. The concept seemed fundamentally wrong - if humans were meant to soar through the sky, we would have been born with wings like birds. Every logical bone in my body screamed that we belonged on solid ground, not suspended thousands of feet above it in a metal tube. And before anyone tries to comfort me with those statistics about planes being safer than cars, save your breath. The last person who attempted that lecture also managed to give me a paralyzing fear of elevators.
Which would make working on the fortieth floor of a London high-rise absolutely delightful.
