My legs wobbled as I stumbled back into the office, my mind spinning like a broken record player. The moment Bernard Dixon had walked into that coffee shop, my entire world had tilted sideways and refused to right itself.
Bernard Dixon. My new boss. The Chief Operating Officer of Sterling London.
The same man whose hands had been all over me in an airplane bathroom just weeks ago.
"Penny?" Felicity's concerned voice cut through the fog in my brain. "What happened to you? You look like death warmed over."
Death would have been simpler. Dead people didn't have to face their one-night stands in corporate boardrooms. Dead people didn't have to worry about getting fired for poor judgment at thirty thousand feet.
"Nothing happened," I managed, collapsing into my desk chair and staring blindly at my computer screen. "Everything's perfectly normal."
