Maya, Felicity, and I had made the decision to prepare together, turning our pre-party ritual into something resembling a small celebration. My coffee table disappeared beneath an avalanche of cosmetics, wine glasses claimed every available surface in the living room, and three stunning dresses were draped across my couch like colorful question marks waiting for answers.
"The black dress screams sophistication," Maya declared, holding up the sleek number I had splurged on weeks ago. "It's foolproof elegance."
Felicity shook her head, lifting the deep burgundy creation with its daring open back. "But this wine-red beauty demands attention. The color makes your skin absolutely radiant."
