"Ahhh~~~ how the mighty have fallen"…
On a ruined battlefield, corpses could be seen strewn everywhere, beast, human, demons..
The number of corpses were many they formed literal mountains, with rivers of blood carpeting the whole landscape..
It looked like something pulled straight out of a horror flick, or someone's worst nightmares…
A deep sonorous voice sounded out, echoing without end, as if speaking from all angles..
"The mighty Regulus Von Draken, brought to his knees all because of a woman"…
The speaker was a ten foot tall humanoid, pitch black skin, bulging veiny muscles, a pair twisted black horns jutted out of his skull , and bat like wings kept it afloat..
Just from his appearance, he looked quite demonic, which would be accurate since he was in fact, a demon..
"Absalom" a gravelly voice responded…
"Now now, old friend, don't look at me like that, you'll hurt my feelings, bahahahahahah" the demon, absalom, laughed maniacally…
"To think I ever trusted a demon, so much for putting our differences aside" the gravely voice responded, tone bitter…
The speaker, a man looking to be in his early thirties, golden blonde hair, golden eyes radiating sheer intensity, despite his exhaustion, his body was covered in dark golden scales that seemed to be have been cracked by something deadly, his head adorned four draconian horns that twirled upwards in majestic manner, a pair of golden dragon wings kept him steady, but merely by the look of the deep gash on his abdomen, one could see, he wasn't faring well..
"I'm so sorry my love" a weakened voice sounded from behind the golden haired man..
The speaker, a woman with snowy white hair and ocean blue eyes, her face, despite it's deathly pale complexion, was still breathtakingly beautiful, her trembling lashes giving her a delicate look, as if something on the brink of shattering..
"If I hadn't…If you hadn't insisted on leaving with me, this wouldn't..cough..cough" she coughed violently, blood spilling down her lips..
The golden haired man was alarmed, rushing towards his wife in a hurry..
"Easy sera, easy," he whispered with a gentle smile..
"I'm..sorry..for being.. a burden" the woman wheezed out…
"You've never been a burden, my love, in fact, you've always been my liberation" the man smiled, showcasing his pearly white teeth…
"You..you can still make it if y..you.. cough" she coughed again, blood splashing out, this time with organs mixed within..
"And leave the both of you here? alone? Never" the man hugged his wife..
"If we're going out, we're going out together" he whispered, only for her ears…
*****
"Awww, what a touching scene" the demon, Absalom, mocked..
"Enough of this, let's end this before it gets complicated, you've had your fun, demon" came an irritated voice from the demon's right..
"Indeed, underestimating anyone from THAT, family is a mistake that could cost us dearly, especially when it's THIS MAN.." another voice, this time feminine, responded..
"Alright then, Seraphina, in your next life, be sure to make the right choices" the demon spat in hatred, pointing his palm forward, black flames gathered within his outstretched arm, but before he could unleash the attack,
The world froze…
Return To Origin..
A whisper in the void…
The golden haired man, Regulus, slowly stood up, his wife in his arms, his hair no longer golden, his scales vanished, his wings and horns disappeared, he looked just like any other plain human..
"Using this technique will kill you my love" the woman said with tears in her eyes, already aware of what this entailed for her husband..
"A fair price to pay for a few more moments with you both" the man smiled..
The woman's tear filled gaze dropped down to the little boy that had passed out within her embrace, love and hurt swirling within her ocean blue eyes..
"Our baby, what will happen to little Dante, without us there, they might come for him" she spoke up, worried, her hold getting tighter ..
"I'd already sent word for help, someone will take care of the little man, I just hope he doesn't hate us for leaving early" the man shook his head ruefully..
A moment of silence lingered, comfortable yet fleeting..
"Ahh, seems my time is up.."
The man voiced out weakly, his body slowly disappearing..
"No, Regulus, you can't.." the woman's heartbroken cry sounded out..
"I'll be going on ahead first, my love" he smiled..
"Know that I will always love you, in this life and the next" came his soft voice...
...
"And I too my love"the wife replied as she watched her husband's body disappear into the winds, together with those of the instigators of this entire event..
The ruined battlefield fell silent once more, the only signs of life the soft beating of the heart of one little boy, clutched tightly within the embrace of his mother…
