Sanika POV
The bus ride to the off-campus dorms was quite comfortable, even though it was a short ride there. I can't believe that Danitza chose to live in a dorm on campus. I do feel bad because we plan on dorming together for college, and I really wanted to keep her company. I did make myself a promise, though, that I wouldn't be dependent on her as I was before.
Finally got to the off-campus dorms, and I have to admit they are really small. Getting my suitcase off the bus to find my room, not going to lie, I felt a little lonely, I guess, because I'm naturally a talker. I am beginning to really regret my choice, sigh.
"Hey, Sanika, right?" I turn around with a little confused expression because I know no one here except for Danitza, oh yeah, and that low-life Ryker. Finally seeing the face of the voice that called me, I am now beyond confused because who is this person?
"Hey?" I said, or more like asked. "I am sorry, but do I know you?" I asked with a little chuckle cause bro, what?
"Yeah, you know me. I thought I recognized your extraterrestrial body shape," she said as if it was the most okay thing to say. Who is this bitch and why am I always the one to be in these situations?!
"Excuse you bitch! Ummm okay, wait, let me start this shit over." I try to calm myself as I take a few deep breaths; I mean, I am in a different environment. I'm supposed to be starting over.
"You are trying to start what over? The fact that you stole my boyfriend from me and called my mom an 'autistic cavewoman.' Bitch I should knock you senseless right now!"
Stole her boyfriend? She is definitely going to have to be a lot more specific.
"Listen, I am sorry if I did that to you, but you're going to have to be a little bit more specific. I am known for taking what doesn't belong to me." I said with a smile in my voice to get under her skin.
"Seriously, you narcissistic bitch-." Gosh, she said my trigger word.
"Let me stop you right there, wannabe Britney Spears. I have stood here in the chill of the evening listening to you spout nonsense, and you dare to call me narcissistic? Either you get to the point or this 'narcissistic bitch' walks." I said with venom laced in my voice. I have been nothing but nice to her since she stopped me and actively listened to her foolishness.
"Jackson, he broke up with me on our 2nd anniversary just to sleep with you. We were together for 2 years bitch, and he broke it off with me just to get in your pants! Do you know what that feels like? I'm not an emotional bitch, Sanika, but Jackson was special to me, and you took him away, and he left like our relationship was nothing." She vented, and normally I don't feel bad, but for some reason I do.
"I must thank you, though, Sanika. I heard he got dumped like a sack of potatoes. Guess karma really is a bitch, and I can't wait for you to get yours. " She finished off before walking away, before I could say my piece.
I guess your past really does follow you no matter where you go.
Finally, found my room, and I must say I was a little sad to open the door and find out I had a roommate. Guess who it is. No, it's not the girl from earlier. It is a nerd. I sigh and continue inside. "Hey, my name is Sanika." I introduced myself to who seemed like the female version of 'Young Sheldon.' I pray she isn't like that. I had to deal with Danitza for 3 years, and we weren't even living together.
"Hey, I'm Gina," she replied. I guess she seemed sweet. I closed the door behind me and advanced further inside the room to settle in. "So, what will you be studying here?" I asked, trying to make conversation. She stopped what she was doing and faced me; she is really pretty. She has honey-blonde hair, blue eyes, long lashes, and a quite curvy figure. She looks really pleasant; not going to lie, she makes me feel a little self-conscious—a little bit of déjà vu from when I first met Danitza.
"Electrical engineering, always had a thing for numbers. What about you? What are you studying?" Gina asked me; damn, she's smart too. "Hospitality and Tourism, but I am focusing more on the culinary aspect. I love making people feel good through food." I answered with a smile, and I do make people feel good with my body too.
Gina nodded, showing that she acknowledged what I said. I am a little confused, though. Don't colleges normally allow people with the same program to dorm together? I wasn't expecting to be dorming with an engineering student.
After unpacking most of my things, I remembered that Danitza and I were supposed to call the others. I completely forgot about it; so much happened in such a short space of time. By the way, let me call Jackson first. I need to know who that bitch was from earlier. Gina stepped out to meet some friends, I guess, so I had the room to myself.
I dialed Jackson's number, recalling it from memory. It rang for a while, but he answered as I knew he would.
"Hey, Jackson, just wanted to check in to see how you were doing," I said, trying my best to sound as relaxed as possible.
"Why did you really call me Nika? I thought you had a future to focus on." Jackson replied. Gosh, why are men nowadays so freaking emotional?
Sighing, I got to the point. "Okay, so I met a girl. She didn't tell me her name, but she said I stole you from her and that you and her were together for 2 years. She really disrespected me, and I want to know who she is, you know?"
"Makes sense; she's my ex-girlfriend, Skittles, and was the love of my little teenage life back in high school. We had something special, and something she hoped would make it in the future, but I fell for a two-faced bitch because the pussy was good. Skittles is no harm, though she has a mouth on her; no need to view her as a threat and send 'the butcher' so, yeah. Anything else you want to know?"
What did I really ever do to these people? That was in high school; we are adults now. How dare he mention my father at that? So, what if my father is the butcher? That's what put food on the table. I honestly never expected Jackson and me to make it out of high school; the sex was indeed good, and I know I didn't stay loyal to him, but I am trying to move on here.
"Listen, Jackson, I am sorry. I didn't mean to cause so many problems, and I am sorry that I hurt you, but you will always hold a special place in my heart. If I am being honest, I never imagined we would make it out of high school together, but we did, and that makes me happy and honored that I got to spend some of my time with you. Jackson, I am trying to start over to be the better version of myself, and it feels like I am running a marathon with my past mistakes." I vented with a little sniffle; it is starting to be frustrating.
"Nika, I left my girlfriend of 2 years for you just for you to toss me away like... like a used condom. It hurts, Nika. I am sorry for the way you feel, but I don't think you will ever be able to outrun your mistakes. It was not nice talking to you, but good luck in your future endeavors." He said, and soon after, hung up.
I sighed. Gosh, you give these men an inch, and they talk a mile. I know I was a bitch; it's not like I disregard all that I have done, but let me be.
I tried to call Danitza to catch her up on the eventful day called my life, but the line was busy. I instantly rolled my eyes, having a feeling she was talking to Ryker. I threw my phone down and tried to get some sleep.
