Chapter 43 - Retribution Pt.10

Solaris felt a familiar pain as the hammer slammed into him once again. As he flew back, he felt a surge of pain in his chest.

Solaris had continued to dash in hopes of reaching the skinny demon, yet as he grew closer, every time he'd get hit back. After a few strikes, Solaris started to hurt around the chest; his Harden protected the point of impact, yet the surrounding area was not as lucky.

A slight bruise had started to form.

After his latest attempt, he had started to reassess the situation and decided to try something new. As he stopped his momentum, he called Rusty back out, having long been sent back under his skin, and placed a few shards onto it.

As he dashed forward, he aimed the axe and threw it at the sloth demon. As the copper axe approached the skinny demon, the armored one turned and threw his warhammer. The two objects collided in the air, and the hammer won.

Solaris watched as the axe was shattered by the impact of the hammer, yet his face didn't display any shock; instead, his smile grew a bit wider, he shifted aiming his legs at the armored demon, now that he lacked a weapon solaris hoped to knock him to the ground, as he flew at the pride demon, he dodged another bone javelin, and began to move all of his heat to his foot, intending to drive his burning heel straight through the demon's chest.

As he grew closer, Solaris watched as the demon turned around and swung its arm into a block, and before he knew it, a massive shield appeared in his arm. Solaris's eyes widened as his leg struck the shield; he pushed the demon back a couple of feet, yet didn't do any damage.

With a widened smile, he flung his arm to the side and sent out the rest of the shards under his skin, all targeting the crevices of the demon's armor.

"You should've never discarded your weapon!"

Solaris yelled as the shards slid under the armor. Within a few seconds, Solaris found the skin of the demon and started to cut through the incredibly tough skin.

First, he began by heating the shards, then angling them into a drill-like formation and causing them to spin. The demon's orange eyes showed a look of pain as the shards began to pierce its skin. The shards screamed with a metallic grind as they attempted to burrow into the demon's flesh.

Yet it knew it would take time to actually cut, so it moved its arm, throwing Solaris back into the sky. As it did, the sloth aimed and threw another bone; this time, Solaris had no time to dodge and was hit by the attack.

Solaris had moved as much as possible, yet he still felt the bone slide through his skin, muscle, and even graze his bone. The weapon passed through his shoulder.

"AHHHGAHH!!"

Solaris yelled out before gritting his teeth.

Damn it, got too cocky.

Curving his lips up, he showed a disturbed smile, before dashing down instead of at the demons. His goal was to land on the ground, where he'd have a better chance of dealing with the sloth, but a worse chance at the pride.

But that was a risk he was going to take. As he approached the ground, he hardened his body in hopes of not dying.

Yet as soon as he was about to touch the earth, his body once again flung upwards, and he was somehow struck with the hammer again.

Regaining his senses, he looked at the pride and saw that the hammer was not in its hands. Looking at the spot where he'd been knocked back, he saw the hammer in the ground.

What the...

Before the question was even posed in Solaris's mind, he already had the answer.

His eyes watched as the hammer head bounced with a force, launching into the air, then it pulled back like a magnet being attracted to another, a rapid pull shot, the hammer back at the pride.

Without moving, the demon caught the hammer and readied itself for another attack. Its body was still being pierced by the shards, yet puncturing the skin was proving to be much more difficult than Solaris had originally imagined.

Solaris felt backed into a corner; he was unable to leave the sky, which kept him safe from the pride demon, yet he was also completely vulnerable to the sloth's javelins. He could dodge them, but for how long? For how long could he keep drilling his shards into the pride's body? The questions festered in his mind for some time, ideas came and went, yet none could work.

I no longer have the support of Rusty, meaning I have no quick way to take out the sloth, but what if I...

As Solaris dodged another bone, he finally formed an idea that could work.

He waited a mere moment, as another bone shot at him to make his move.

He started by moving both himself and the shards that had been on Rusty. The axe had lost its ability to be an axe, yet it still existed within the world.

As the shards moved, they clasped onto the copper remains of the blade. They moved quickly to the skinny body of the demon. The speed of the shards had already been hard to dodge, yet with the demon's body in a post-throw position, it was almost impossible, and that is just what Solaris wanted.

Its slim eyes widened as it looked at the incoming blade. With a whoosh of air, the shards flew forward and directly into the body of the demon.

The demon felt the shards begin to heat up, and soon they slightly pierced its skin.

Solaris maintained his grin despite the pain, yet it now grew into one of glee, instead of one born from pain.

"Got you!"

Solaris quickly willed the shards to move, yet they left the blade of the broken axe firmly embedded into the demon's side.
