Chapter 58 - The tale to the Eclipse

The group stared at Solaris for a long time; the only thing changing was their eyes blinking.

After some time, Jon Smit broke the silence.

"Umm... let's call it a day; you're dismissed."

"Okay, good to meet you, Mr.Smit."

With that, Jon Smit nodded and stood up to leave the room, motioning for the girl and the man in the lab coat to follow. Leaving only Solaris, Ember, and Selen in the room.

Solaris looked at the two with a confused expression.

"That was weird."

Hearing this, Ember simply shook his head and stood up.

"Alright lets go home. They will call us back if they need more information."

With that, the trio left HQ.

As Jon Smit left the conference room, he began to talk.

"That kid killed over six hundred demons?!"

He looked over at the girl beside him.

"Do you think he was lying, Arias?"

The girl now known as Arias opened her mouth and appeared to speak, yet Jon contiued to stare questioningly.

Sighing, she typed on her tablet before turning it around.

On it read. 'I don't think he would lie about that; he's two new.'

"I also doubt he would lie; I saw him the moment he came back. His status was very dire, so the probability of him lying is close to point zero zero three percent."

"Yeah... just in case we should monitor him a bit more, I'd like to know his Extramicy."

Arias typed on her tablet and turned it around again. 'I shall let Sami and Ember know. '

"Good, thank you, Arias."

As the trio walked, the man in the lab coat broke off and Contiued to a door with a name on it.

It read 'Dr. Celer Astorn'

The man opened the door and walked to the empty desk before sitting behind it.

After a moment, he began to type on a computer.

'The first layer of hell'

While Celer typed up the report, Jon Smit and arias, contiued walking, talking-typing for Arias- and accidentally spreading a rumor.

***

"Did you hear, there was a hunter who killed six hundred demons!"

"No way, you're lying."

"No, it's true. I heard someone talking to Arias say it!"

"What was their name?"

"Hmm, it was Sol, something."

"sol.. like the sun?"

"Yea thats it."

The rumor of Solaris' great feat spread across the Building within hours.

"Did you hear of that hunter, Sun, who killed six thousand demons, hes aparently incredibly powerful; some say hes stronger than Singulus."

"No way someone is stronger than that thing!"

"Yeah, I don't buy it myself, but some others say he has a being inside of him that is even stronger than he is!"

As the tale spread, it began to change and shift, with every retelling and every exaggeration, yet Solaris was completely unaware of this, infact he didn't even know how massive a feat killing six hundred of anything was.

For him, it was simply his only option.

Eventually, a nickname came to be.

One that Solaris was acutely familiar with.

"The Eclipse?"

"Yeah, apparently he went to hell just to kill all of the demons, out of pure spite.

"WOW! He did it just because!"

"That's the theory, though some don't even think hes real. Jacopo in accounting said he saw him; he was tall with a superhero-like build! But Sarra at the front desk said he was short and unimposing.

"Maybe he can change forms!"

With more and more changes to the story, and every retelling, Solaris became less of a man and more of an idea, and with that idea, a plan was beginning to be enacted.

Solaris sat in his room wearing normal clothes, his mark beneath his skin- the room had been transformed into a lush and beautiful park landscape, as opposed to the small boxed room.

As he sat alone, he began to think of the interview, and whether or not he had made the correct decision.

I should've told them about the being I saw before waking up, and maybe my new ability too... but at the same time, I'm not sure if trusting blindly is such a great idea... not after last time at least. And this time it could be even worse than the enemy just knowing some basic stuff about my life.

Solaris continued to debate himself in silence for some time.

Completely unaware that a rumor was spreading like wildfire over at HQ.

His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on his door; then it opened.

As it opened from seemingly the middle of a field, Solaris saw a tall blonde girl walk in. Before she closed the door behind her, it disappeared as it shut.

Solaris continued to stare at the sky as he spoke.

"Hey, Selen, did you need something?"

Selen made her way over, not speaking, before sitting beside him on his bench.

Reminding Solaris of their first conversation.

Solaris raised an eyebrow, but before he could ask, she spoke.

"Did all of that stuff really happen?"

"Yeah, I wouldn't lie about it."

Solaris said, scratching the back of his head.

"Can you tell me more?"

Solaris was taken aback for a moment before hesitantly answering.

"...yeah, I suppose. Any reason why?"

Selen spoke with her normal voice, yet Solaris could swear there was an emotion laced within it.

"HQ wants to explore more of it, and to do so they need the main assault force of hunters to clear it."

As Solaris heard this, his face began to grimace and then snarl.

What the hell! Who would dare to send more people into that place!

"So please tell me everything you know."

Even lacking the normal cadence of a person, Solaris could almost make out an emotion from Selen's voice.

That emotion was fear.
