Kaiden froze. Impossible. Legends told to pups. Not real.

"We bring her back," he said finally.
"Alive?" the warrior asked.
"Yes. Unharmed."
But doubt crept in, a slow, insidious thing. He remembered her face at the ceremony—not anger. Not hatred. Pain.
And for the first time, he questioned his decision.
